Possibly a tactical mistake. In govt she would be bound by cabinet collective responsibility. On the back benches she is free to criticise the govt. I don't think she is one of the "wheesht for indy" crowd.

I think in the slow motion car crash that is about to be the SNP, the driver and navigator have just been assigned their seats.
Nothing slow about this. biggrin

Option 1 - Take a popular, effective, rising star, put aside they called you out during a political slanging match (where that stuff is fair game), do a deal and channel their popularity and ability.

Option 2 - Be a spiteful, petty muppet and get rid of them as quickly as possible. Don't want any competition close.

Option 2 is the move of a mediocre, insecure middle manager.

I think that's a smart move from Forbes to reject the role she was offered. I don't think Humza is going to make a good job of being leader and if it all collapses around his ears, Forbes will escape the flak by not being part of his team. Just my opinion anyway.

At my archery club tonight the topic got on lightly to politics.

8 adults there and not a single supporter of the SNP.

Is it because they are all reasonably intelligent working men and not the demographic of the SNP.

It’s as I said out loud ‘Who the hell actually votes for these clowns’

Best thing she could do right now is go and chair a parliamentary committee. The Scottish Parliament committees are very tame compared to their Westminster counterparts. Use her Finance Secretary knowledge to stick her nose in and hold the Scottish Government to account. Subtly undermines the new leadership and builds her brand for next time round.

I doubt they're the only one, a not-for-profit scheme, funded by a US Venture Capital setup, paying £300k pa to the boss.... Yep smells rather fishy to me. Anything NFP is a great way to remove millions from a company legally, as I'm sure the investors will be looking for a healthy return on their initial funds.
