Volcanic ash closing Scottish airports
Discussion
The met office computer predicted position of the thickest ash cloud is so close to LGW that aircraft can depart after 07:00 but not land until 13:00.
The predicted position of the cloud is on the approach just to the west of the airport so aircraft can depart in an easterly direction but aircraft can't be vectored in to land from the west. What nonsense.

I have to agree with the above post completely. Box ticking and rules being followed blindly based on a computer simulation. The predicted position of the cloud is on the approach just to the west of the airport so aircraft can depart in an easterly direction but aircraft can't be vectored in to land from the west. What nonsense.
Meanwhile at other nameless airports in Europe... :Gallic shrug:

It's just resting....This guy on the program said it a few times, and each time it sounded the same, so I guess he had been practising it a lot, though, I can't remember now how it was pronounced
