To be fair, this goes for all old cars and not only the small ones. Look at how this 1959 Chevy does it (gorgeous car though):

Is not the point that, whatever you drive or ride, you should concentrate upon just that and use any safety means available in any particular vehicle, whilst not trying to perform any other activity?
Sad of course but reinforces that driving or riding should demand total concentration.

When people get into these things they think "Ooooh a door to my left and right and a roof, I'm all enclosed, nothing can hurt me in my dent proof panels."

They should just be asked to watch this before purchase:

Running into stuff in small cars is a bad idea

But they have petrol engines so it is okay to die in them
Thinfourth, you know how pro EV I am! I couldnt care what powers it, just the false sense of security it may give.

I'd already checked all but one of those videos out, the Saxo one is ridiculous, there's one of a Corsa B vs massive german saloon and the Corsa nearly snaps in half:

I get in my car and I feel sort of safe, even though I realise I'm not I just try not to think about it, I've been T-boned by a transit van in a 40mph and my car looked like a banana (same model car I have now), it well hurt, but I'm still here today and I was able to walk it off after a few seconds and had a bad back for a couple of weeks.

Imagine if I was driving a G-Wizz!

Are you a politician?
Pffft. I hate them.

I'm trying to get a middle ground between banning them and making people aware. Right now I'm leaning towards slapping the manufacturers.

Besides, do people really ride quads quickly without lids these days?
They do, trike riders too.

I still say you're a politician. If you're not you're doing a bloody good impression of one.

you would have thought a scientist would have understood the benefits of the inertia reel seatbelt.
