I find the fact you need to be an employee there gets rid of some of the rif raf. Also that is an incredibly snobbish attitude.
OT and completely irrelevant semantics; I'm technically not an employee but after some of my ill advised comments in the tax avoidance threads I'll refrain from saying much more on the subject. It's not a snobbish attitude it's fact: For instance out of town car-boot sales attract customers who actually have money, rather than the dreggs of society who crawl out of the alleys, wheelie bins and kebab waste bags around in-town ones.

One of the worst things in designing any area people will need to be is to make it only accessible by car.
The car is the best method of transport which most people use. The worst crime town planners are guilty of these days (specifically in regards to retail and high streets) is making something inconvenient to access by car.

What if your car broke down one morning or you got a driving ban? You would be stuffed. My car gets used when I will actually enjoy it and not see it as a chore.
If my car broke down one morning I'd get a taxi for that day and sort something out later. I'll probably have another car soon anyway and its unlikely they'd both go wrong at once. I'll only get a driving ban if I do something stupid and I'm actually in control of whether I do something stupid or not. They don't just ban you randomly like a motoring version of the draft.

And don't get me started on the fking gondolas

they are just fking useless - all you get is the telling you who this house belongs to and how many generations they have lived there

what the fk!? this isnt a tour of the neighbours studio set

a few friends of mine went and i emphasised to them - DO NOT HIRE A GONDOLA. they didnt listen and regretted going against my advice.

why are coke cans more expensive than a 1.5 litre bottle there?!

i did pick up a fair few cheap cigars there though which was surprising.

As I am likely to be dealing with my Dad's estate in the next few months I have to agree.

Sorry to mention, but the

Old technology yes, but not outdated, Eurostar/TGV are not outdated,

Are quite outdated.
You want to travel on some of the "NEW" generation trains, then you will really see how out of date the UK trains are.

Well I was going to mention CRH or KTX trains but I don't think he would have known what I was on about, my main point was that they are not steam trains and are not as st as anyone who hasn't used them presumes they are. Anyways, there will be some new ones in a few years down here. I have travelled on many abroad, they are fast, efficient and frequent, as ours are to a much lower degree.

Most high street brand labels.

Yes, some are better than others, but the importance that some people attach to, and the extra that they are willing to pay for, the "right" ladel is utterly daft.

I thought steam trains were very reliable back in the day, as it were?
