Social Tourettes is highly commendable. I have a bit of it myself, from time to time.

Dinner Party Person: "Moan, whinge, moan, I have, like, total shedloads of First World Probs, poor me."

BV: "Yeah, but you could stop being such a tt, maybe? Meanwhile, let me pour you some more of this fking amazing claret. Thanks, Hostess."

Hostess: "Cheers, BV, I'll invite you again in about 10 years, and it'll be fking Jacob's Creek".

I know people (real people, in work) who have stopped at one kid as they can't afford a second.
May I respectfully advise the stupid cow in the story to keep her fking legs shut.
The system is broken. Somebody really needs to push the reset button, and quickly.

Owen Jones on R4 now.

That kid really needs an operation for his oral disorder.

I love these spurious statistics use to prove welfare dependency is not a problem.

Apparently only 170 families on benefits have more than 10 kids, so obviously there isn't a problem with large families living on benefits in his world. How about the number with more than five kids, a number unaffordable to the vast majority of the working population.

Jesus; she was the one sperm that fought off millions of others to get to the egg.

Imagine if some of the others made it too.....

Much as it pains me to agree with Rover, we do spend an awful lot of time frothing at the mouth over insignificant freak anomolies of the welfare system on PH.
This woman is a , and make no mistake, and it is no good for the morale of the country - but why do we spend so much time getting so angry about these one-off examples?
Because being enraged is fun and passes the working hours a lot quicker.

I think that being enraged just makes you grumpy, and most of PH should lighten up about this sort of thing. Yes, the woman is a total scuzzhead, and the Council's decision is stark raving stupid, but this sort of thing is pretty marginal, really, as are Beardy Ranty Muslim Preachers and most of the other PH pet peeves. We have more important things to worry about, and in the long term we're all dead, as Keynes said (I think it was Keynes, but CBA to check).

Because an awful lot of people assume the media are showing a representative sample and think that these things are the norm.

A society where you have a culture of ignorance with information only easily available via biased (one way or the other) media platforms and a prevailing political climate built on feeding jealousy will always react badly to extreme examples.

While I don't want to turn this post into a Lefty drum banging session, IME the majority of people on benefits don't want to be there, even those who still have an entitlement attitude would rather earn a living. But the system that allows these extremes to occur wasn't designed by those who rely on it and turning it off quickly would be like switching off a life support machine.

And it’s a story that just keeps on giving.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/9884775/Job...

A long term unemployed mother-of-11 who made headlines after it emerged she was getting a six-bedroom council house built for her and owned a horse is now said to have bought flying lessons for her lover.

Heather Frost, 37, who has not worked for 18 years, is said to have paid for the Christmas gift for partner Jake Martin, 57, despite being on benefits.

The microlight lessons, which cost up to £115 an hour, were believed to have been at Gloucestershire Airport, the Sun said the stepdaughter had told them. Her lover’s daughter Leanne, 34, said she also bought gifts for neighbours and friends.

Should have bought herself some new teeth.

ETA:

Also, this really pisses me off;

Article said:
Ms Frost, who has not worked for years, said she had intended to set up her own business but fell ill with cancer two years ago.
My mother had cancer, she wasn't entitled to any help, she continued to work two fking jobs whilst having lymph nodes removed and fitting in radiotherapy inbetween. fk these s who use cancer as an excuse never to do anything ever again.

Unless some other scrotebag is having a house built for her by an idiot council, then, yes, the case of this useless floozie is a one-off. The story is deeply irritating, but, ultimately, meh.

not sure if mentioned but her 'income' works out at 66k gross.

no wonder it's seen as a good option, do nothing and get paid, unless that changes (which it won't) it will continue to happen.

209 billion spent on benefits etc last year.

crazy world we live in.
