Seriously. I got accused of being an estate agent shill on one site on the basis I owned a house.

PH is a positive nirvana of tolerance in comparison to most of the web.
Not for the faint hearted.....nah you can always switch to another thread. I have only encountered good banter apart from having a stalker for a shortwhile

I agree with this.

I'm uber left wing compared to most on here, and yet I find Turbobloke one of the most interesting and polite posters on the whole of PH.

People really shouldn't hate each other because of their political leanings.

Irony much?

I believe you are a mod here, how many posters have you binned due to their 'banal factual observations' of a leftie nature?

hehe
None. Not a single one. Ever. Look in NPE. Three is something of a diversity, and many who froth in a way contrary to the perceived view of PH. Yet they are still here.

I'm more of a lurker than poster but I disagree with this, some of the frothing bile directed at posters who arent to the right of Ghengis Khan is surreal.
Yet they are still here.

Opposing views are welcomed, but they are also argued against.

Just get out of this particular sub forum.

Plenty of sane rational people on the rest of PH who just laugh at it because of how reactionary, right wing and yes, racist, it has become.

It used to be conservative but with a bit of respect. Now it's just a blinkered little corner that cannot take any form of critique.

I duck in now again to find out what the daily mail has said without actually having to give them any ad revenue hehe

I find this forum a bit of fun but some of the views expressed are not representative of the UK as a society of course.

Nice to be civilised, not a Labour Party class hater in sight.
I've read this three times now and I still have no idea what you're on about. Are your meal times usually disturbed by class warriors then?

Really? Not perfect maybe, but far to wise to be taken in by the delusions and lies of Labour party supporters. I just wish they could be made responsible/accountable for their actions. Would soon change their tune if they had to pay in some way for the wreckage their spiteful idealogical ineptitude causes. .

Anyhow,off to wash my hands.

I was actually thinking this particular form discussion was going quite well, with people of both left/right being rather civil with each other, perhaps its the nice weather that puts people in a better mood, who knows!

And then muppets like this come along and spoil things.

People don't have to be 'civilised' just grown up to argue their point.

Yeah, how dare they raise an opposite opinion.

I would agree that some threads do attract more assertive posts, sometimes bordering on the impolite, but from the little I've seen it's pretty even.

It all depends on which threads you are into.

For an example of unpleasantness the recent 'Israeli' thread took some beating, but I'm sure there are others.

This is the internet - all human life is here - and some of them will disagree with your POV. If you find them rude - move on to another thread.

Having dipped into Mumsnet and AARSE and CiF over the years this remains a relatively civilised place, imho.

It took me two of his posts to realise this... I am disappointed in myself biggrin

Yep, you lefties don't like those who treat you for what you are, and expose most of what you say as lies. Hugely amusing.

I have a scroll around a few posts. I tend to notice the use of the word 'leftie' as an insult inevitably creeps in before page two. It's usually alongside some isolated fact that proves how naive people with left leaning ideas are. By 'leaning' I mean they're one step from Pol Pot.

And the media; full of bloody lefties. Unless you talk to lefties, then you'll find out the media has a huge right wing bias.

As with most PH threads/discussions/arguments, the forum is so popular, somebody has usually expressed my point of view, even if it's a minority one.

Being anything other than a rabid frothy-mouthed UKIP supporter makes you a communist on PH.
Not quite sure why the N,P&E forum has become a sounding board for fascists, but forum staff should be ashamed of the way their site is headed & the fact that it's so massively out of step with UK society.
Stormfront or PH? Tough choice....

Oh I don't know... several forum regulars saying that the word n****r isn't racist & they should be able to use it in public without recrimination.
There was a heated debate about this just a few months ago. Have you forgotten?
That's a recent PH gem that springs to mind.

I just did.
You seriously want me to trawl through recent threads, post quotations of racist banter for you then to say "oh yes everyone posts silly things from time to time".
What's the point?
It's when these views aren't stamped on by the staff here that it's seen as ok to do it. Admin are effectively giving the green light to intolerant extreme right wing views. Mob mentality ensues.
There was a poll recently in N, P&E about who people are going to vote for in the GE & UKIP massively came out on top. In reality they'll be lucky if they return 4 MPs. If that doesn't show how out of step the forum regulars are with society as a whole then nothing will.

What proportion of the membership voted in that poll? I agree the regular posters in NP&E are more likely to have strident views - that's why they are interested in the NP&E sub-forum. I disagree that you can then use that sub-section of the membership to draw a definite conclusion about the majority of PHers.

Plenty of PHers avoid NP&E because it's full of strident, relatively extreme posters...
