During the peak of the IRAs activity, weren't servicemen allowed to carry concealed sidearms off-duty? I wonder if this is something we might see a return of.
I was in the Army during the troubles and never came across this. May have been the case for very specialist/very senior peeps but certainly not commonplace
My brother was in the army during the troubles- never carried any weapons off duty. A Brother of a bloke I worked with was in the RUC - carried his issue pistol everywhere he went - on or off duty.

I remember as a member of the CCF one of the boarders from NI complaining that he wasn't allowed to change out of uniform after camp and that he was expected to travel home in full army uniform (he changed on the ferry IIRC). So concealed carry, nope don't see that at all.

No doubt the resourceful communities of these two individuals will do the right thing & shop them. Really hope they do.

And offering lifts into camp for staff entering on foot

None of it adds up.

There wasn't an abduction attempt.

One on the right looks more like that woman Naga Munchetty off BBC breakfast news.

Have to say I'm impressed by this serviceman's recovery from being caught out (partly because of his self inflicted sensory depravation- iPod) to recover and gain the upper hand with the old Glasgow Kiss (head butt) I think is impressive. Chapeau that man! Makes me proud to be British goddamit.
