Looks like she is trying to protect the Tory party from the post-brexit backlash that would have happened in 2020.
Can I have a go on your crystal ball? I fancy some good lotto numbers.

I would think it is a very complex thing to undo. As the notice under Article 50 was issue and accepted it would require a full unanimous vote by all remaining 27 EU members to reverse it (after the UK Parliament reverses it and the Queen has signed-off).
I'm not so sure.
The EU would love UK to stay in or reverse the decision as it would then stamp hard thatvits a great club.

Why would the EU want a country not to change its mind and stay in? Germany would have to pay less France too etc and then the net receivers get more.... only pig headed views would take it that way.
Yes true but the EU have stated on a number of occasions (for new entrants) an unanimous vote is needed, they cannot change their rules ad-hoc (OK, this is the stupid EU we're talking about so anything is possible ...).

How much is this going to cost the tax payer?

What about the Fixed Parliament Act? Is she making claims she cannot fulfill again?
Looks like she needs a 2/3rds of the Commons to back her GE proposal.

A real rock and a hard place for those that wanted to remain in the EU.
So Remainers who will you vote for ?
It seems the only logical party for Remainers and those that want a soft Brexit is the Lib Dems.
As someone who voted "Remain" in June; Tory. Article 50 has been triggered and the job is now to move on and get the best long-term deal we can and to my mind that needs stability above all else. Time for will-we-won't-we ended last year.

& there's the thing: any party going against it will be seen as fkers and play into her hands. SNP ego will force them to back an election, Lib Dums want it (they believe they can win seats - and let's face it they're fked at the moment).

Admit to being amazed by that. They can only do it with the support of other parties, so how did they get the other parties to agree when it's likely to go so badly for them? Very interesting.

Haven't gone through all the pages but from the BBC website
"There will be a Commons vote on the proposed election on Wednesday - she will need Parliament's backing to hold a vote before 2020."
That could be a stumbling block to her plans as the diehard Corbynistas might not fancy their world coming to an end. Otoh those wanting to get rid of him will jump at any chance. Who knows what the SNP will do and the LibDems are an irrelevance.
Their best bet would be to lose this one and focus on ousting Corbyn; regroup and try again in 2022.

I do hope that this time, before we vote,we all have an informed and detailed idea of what we are voting for.
Soft Brexit/hard Brexit etc. and exactly what those terms actually might mean to our economy and the future of Europe.
I was extremely frustrated when Cameron refused to engage seriously with the EU and return with compromise proposals that may have averted us leaving.
I blame the EU as well for being arrogant and pigheaded.
All this could have been averted if wiser heads and common sense had prevailed.
Unfortunately we are where we are and for many of the electorate that's between a rock and a hard place.
Shame on Cameron and the EU for allowing this situation to develop.
