Sad down fall, her dad was a hero.

I can give a tiny insight to 'Bob'. My wife used to work as his p.a. at Pergamon Press when I worked just across the road in Headington at Oxford Poly. She had previously worked at Christchurch College in the city but jumped at this offer of a job with him because of the salary. Plus it was easier for us to meet up at lunch times and go to the pub just up the road (which was always full of Pergamon staff) rather than me going into the city centre.

I'm talking late 1970s. When we met that lunchtime, I asked her how her first day had gone so far? With a slight grimace she told me she was going up the stairs and 'Bob' was coming down with two young blokes (his sons?). As my wife neared, he stopped her by touching her shoulder and said a long 'Hello' (Leslie Phillips style!) and 'You're new, aren't you?' eek

In his office she used to take notes (never alone) there were always others in there round his large table. He controlled the office doors from under his desk so nobody could enter or leave without his say so. I remember thinking 'odd' then. Not now. I vaguely recall not long after she started their was a huge fire there in one of the buildings. Anyway, she left after a couple years and gave up working - we had enough money then to start a family. I continued to work in Oxford and still knew some of the Pergamon workers - always a strange enterprise and some strange people, but then there are in all walks of life. I left to start my own publishing business in 1990 but still needed to go to Oxford a fair bit and recall the rumours in early 1991 that Pergamon had been sold to the giant academic publishers Elsevier for nearly £500m - in order for 'Bob' to keep his other companies going. A few months later he was floating in the sea.
The messy saga continues...

It'll likely be in her interest to if she wants to reduce charges/ sentence.

But it turned out not to be in Epstein's best interest to seek to reduce charges/sentence.

From what I heard early this morning on the radio, the charges that she has been arrested on, pre-date by quite some years, any Prince Andrew involvement.
Nick Witchell said the opposite yesterday, that the charges post-dated some Andrew stuff, charges are (I think) 2004-2007, whereas "that" photo was 2001.

The whole thing is much, much more than solely a sex ring. The background history of those involved is quite intriguing.
I think the reality of what this is really about would make your average Hollywood thriller look quite boring.

Were there not rumours that the Clintons had a hand in the demise of her pal.

There are people out there in internet-land who sincerely believe the Clintons are mass murderers.

All of it is debunked or so surreal as to not require debunking:

Astonishingly, the nectarine narcissist trump retweeted claims that Epstein's death was related to Clinton, including the hashtag #ClintonBodyCount.

No.
Looking at her background and her education, her experience and skills doesn't tally with her being a groomer for grooming's sake. I'm not saying she hasn't done it but I suspect the reason why she's done it is what's quite mysterious. How her father ended up dead in the way he did, how events coincided in Epstein's 'suicide', with guards falling asleep, guards not being replaced after duty, the previous murder attempt, Epstein paying off other prisoners not to hurt him and multiple video camera malfunctions in the jail.
People say Occam's razor, but this is just too weird!

It would certainly be great to get as much of the full sordid story as possible. I'm hoping she manages to stay alive in prison and seriously spills the beans. Could be both shocking and enlightening.

Sorry can someone point me in the direction of a precis of what is happneing - what does all this mean?

black eye stuff, the pizza stuff, the red shoe stuff

I don't want to start googling 'epstein kiddy porn' really.

Is this the same stuff about a blog on the net about someone having kids over to play in the pool or something??
Very basically he allegedly had lots of underage (14 upwards) girls brought to him over years and years to give him "massages" he then allegedly came onto them and had "relations" with a lot of them. Maxwell was allegedly instrumental in the organisation and grooming of said underage girls. The Netflix documentary (4 episodes) will give you a better picture of how corrupt the system seems to be.
I'd go with "teenage prostitutes try and shake down Epstein for money in light of #metoo giving them the impression they are not responsible for their own decisions". Because they might have been under 18 at some stage in the "grooming" there might be a point of law but IMO they are taking the piss. I haven't watched the Netflix documentary but I did listen to a podcast about this. The "victims" on that were a joke. Even if I 100% believed their story, as portrayed by them, they are having a laugh. One of them said that she was given loads of money for college and a job and one time JE tried it on with her (he tried to hold her hand OMG!). She told him to bugger off. Then after that, her sister was working for JE and he tried it on with HER!! She told him to bugger off, that was the end of it. The first sister said she felt bad, for not telling her sister what a beast JE was but she didn't get a chance because (after the hand holding terror) she was on a 1 year study abroad program in Thailand and didn't get the chance. Guess who paid for the year long holiday? She didn't seem to have a problem with that, but 20 years later "OMG I was horrifically groomed and abused. Can I have some more money now please?" That's the victims poster girl? Do me a favour.

In light of lots of complainants, this is a pretty bold statement to make.

I'd say extrapolating from the money grabbing stories of a bunch of middle aged skanks, to "OMG Donald Trump raped a 13yr old" is the real bold move.

I've got a big sense of deja vu from the good old Jimmy Saville days. We started with
-"he fingered me behind the set at top of the pops and I was only 15, can i have some money now please?"
and it was a quick hop step jump to
-"we will believe your stories and not even question them ladies, come one come all, free money" finishing up at
-"he raped a 7 year old boy and was running an elite peadophile ring".

That didn't end well for a lot of people, such as Harvey Proctor, who did nothing wrong.
