With all the Israeli intelligence it's astonishing that this has happened.
Mossad has been touted as the best intelligence going, looks at bit like Putin and his master strategist moniker now.

Probably way OTT - and then some more.
What’s OTT in this case?. The Israelis are understandably furious. I know 2 who live over here and have done for some years but both have done time in the IDF and are currently booking flights home to rejoin.

How do we think Israel will respond?
With a bang
Incredible videos of Israeli airstrikes bringing down entire buildings in Gaza already.
I think those are old videos. One of them even looks like a controlled demolition, not an air strike.

That was my thought. Very controlled explosions from the base of the buildings.

Trouble is, any criticism of Israel is seen as antisemitism.

They are a genocidal regime who would wipe any trace of Palestine off the face of the map if they could get away with.
I'd regard anyone who thinks of them as genocidal as a bit weird.

I'd regard anyone who doesn't think Israel is an oppressive regime as even weirder. Easy to understand where they're coming from, but no one is covering themselves with glory there.

As for Hamas, this looks like flat out terrorism to me.

It was on live TV.......Al Jazeera journo was doing a interview, as the first strike hit the building roof top, the JADAM or Paveway's or whatever used hit the building soon after while she was still hysterical and trying to continue the interview.

A whole military post basically wiped out. The young men on the base didn't even make it out of their bunks and those that did were in their underwear.

The weekend and religious holiday meant that numbers were a bit lower than usual.

Yep. If you look closely you can just make out air-delivered munitions racing in (especially with the 2nd strike).

Indeed, this has been well planned.........and as such, I think, well outside of Hamas's ability up to now, so I really think this has been planned and orchestrated by others, on their behalf and whether that is ISIS/Iran/Russia or Russian contractors from Syria, or a combination of all of them, we might never know. The fact that as many as a 1000 rockets being used shows they have been supplied well from outside, as well as drone use, as seen in Ukraine, means this has been planned for a long while I think.

Just seen the footage of the women bare foot bleeding hands bound being stuffed into the back of a jeep by group of armed men an other crowding round to abuse her.

I am 100% sure Israel will have done bad things to Palestinians but that footage will go around the world and give Israel justification to do whatever it wants.

No matter where you sit on the side of the cause you surely have to see that footage is going to lead to 1000s of deaths.
If its the same one I've seen then there's a lot of blood from a place that may also indicate rape.

There's something oxymoronic about chanting god is great, whilst spitting at the naked and desecrated corpse of an executed female prisoner.
Steady on chap. That’s the religion of peace you’re talking about there.

Religion is the root of most of the evils men do to one another. That and Primark sales.

I'm impressed that the IDF are still roof-knocking. That's pretty restrained of them, all things considered

Again, what can they do to compromise on Israel wanting to eradicate them?
If you think that's true, isn't firing missiles into Israel giving Israel an excuse to do something you think they already want to do?

Someone wearing a Palestinian flag is no different than someone wearing a Ukrainian flag. Both occupied lands ….
There is one key difference, which people may or may not think is relevant, and that is Ukraine is a proper independent country that has been invaded by another country. There has never been an independent Palestine. Pre 1948 and the creation of Israel, it was a British protectorate. Prior to that, before WW1, it was part of the greater Ottoman empire for god knows how long. Even in biblical times it was a area rather than a country.

Israel never invaded Palestine, it was handed to them by the British who controlled it, when Israel was created. The Israel Palestine situation is more like China Hong Kong than Russia Ukraine. China never invaded HK, we handed it (back) to them. Now the people of HK might not like it, but that's the situation.

Arguably we didn’t hand it back; the lease expired and ownership reverted, it was a predictable event.

I recognise that I'm out of my depth in all this, but trying to better understand......
When Israel was created why didn't the borders simply include Palestine ftom the outset ?

Clearer video. I count 7 air-delivered munitions (I think 1 fails to detonate or is on a timer):
