My first job was when I was a student was in PC World; will be a shame to see the name disappear, but I suppose nowadays the term ‘PC’ is almost outdated.

I wish those that didn't use a card would! It's been a while since I travelled into the office but I don't miss being held up at the tube barriers by people trying to use a phone or watch to get through. Slow to register, slow to access, nightmare.
No, that’s just the thick people who don’t know how to set a card up as an Express Travel card on their phone.
No. I see it as someone wanting to get to work as quick as possible.

I work in CW and Oyster will always be quicker.

I'd never heard of team Knowhow.
Knowhow is their technical support brand. I think it came over from CPW and they have their own section in store. A bit like the Apple Genius bar.

"World" has been replaced with 'gone mad'. I know, I read it in NP&E.

I'd hope most people are at work, college or school

Well it’s a comparison to a working Monday two years ago. So it’s showing a difference based on days that should be effectively the same. And you might expect that on the day your allowed ghee after a year of lockdowns that people might be out there making up for what they’ve missed.... a rebound perhaps.

I think 10am on the first Monday hints at something of an agenda by them

People have had over 12 months of being cooped up, told not to go to places/near people, a lot of people may be choosing to see family rather than hit up JD

It'll be a slower emergence imo

I'm in London for the first time since Oct 2019 this coming Saturday. It'll be interesting to see how busy it is.

Masks.

I won't go anywhere near a shop until I don't have to wear a mask.

Is this because you can't breath in one or don't want to wear one? Its been a long time and frankly if I want something I put the mask on make no difference to my shopping trip if anything makes it easirt less likely to have to engage in conversation unless I start it with memeber of staff

It doesn't even need to be a mask. Quite a few prefer those plastic visors which aren't so restrictive.

I just find them uncomfortable and ruin the whole experience for me.

I like engaging with people and I don't like stupid pointless rules telling me what to do.

My Mrs is the same and I can guarantee the poster above, she is missed from the places she normally shops in!

The new face id approach is vastly quicker. In effect the phone is pre authenticated, and communicates instantly.

Old model: hold phone to reader, phone thinks that it needs to pay money, touchID works (maybe)

New model: activate phone, phone is authenticated, hold phone to reader, phone pays.

Completely agree - I hate wearing a mask, and when I am compelled to wear one I will complete what I am doing as quickly as possible and get back outside. I presume that most shops want people to linger and mooch - wearing a mask doesn't make me want to do that.

I was in Dreams one day last week, looking at mattresses. They had a load of bottles of water on a table by the entrance and were actively encouraging you to take one. I assume the point being you could remove / move your mask to take a drink from the bottle. It worked for me, and me and my wife spent about 45 minutes in there.
