Big LOL at visors to replace masks. No thanks. I will be visiting shops once there are NO restrictions.

Completely agree - I hate wearing a mask, and when I am compelled to wear one I will complete what I am doing as quickly as possible and get back outside. I presume that most shops want people to linger and mooch - wearing a mask doesn't make me want to do that.

I was in Dreams one day last week, looking at mattresses. They had a load of bottles of water on a table by the entrance and were actively encouraging you to take one. I assume the point being you could remove / move your mask to take a drink from the bottle. It worked for me, and me and my wife spent about 45 minutes in there.
I do get your point and you are not actively refusing to wear one an demanding to go into a shop so it seems fair enough. An if shopping is a leisure activity spending time in a mask that steams up your glasses (me) its no fun. I suspect he issue is not masks its more people are aware of online now than before, or even click an collect.

Sure they knew you could order online but liked the experience of shopping, some will have been forced to use online an now find they prefer it (not all) so footfall might fall but sales of "stuff may remain the same" this might be more profitable for firms over all

No. I see it as someone wanting to get to work as quick as possible.

I work in CW and Oyster will always be quicker.
The new face id approach is vastly quicker. In effect the phone is pre authenticated, and communicates instantly.

Old model: hold phone to reader, phone thinks that it needs to pay money, touchID works (maybe)

New model: activate phone, phone is authenticated, hold phone to reader, phone pays.
Or alternatively actually use the features built into the latest versions of IOS and are available for iPhone 6s and up - set a card to be available for Express Travel - https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT209495

Simply touch the phone (or watch) to the Oyster reader without bothering to unlock it first.

Funnily enough I popped to our local post office to post a couple of parcels

I realised when leaving that the staff behind the counter had no masks on.

Were they behind a screen?

Yes but prior to that they were wearing masks. Thing is I only realised after I had left. Just got so used to them now I suppose

Masks.

I won't go anywhere near a shop until I don't have to wear a mask.
Is this because you can't breath in one or don't want to wear one? Its been a long time and frankly if I want something I put the mask on make no difference to my shopping trip if anything makes it easirt less likely to have to engage in conversation unless I start it with memeber of staff
I just find them uncomfortable and ruin the whole experience for me.

I like engaging with people and I don't like stupid pointless rules telling me what to do.

My Mrs is the same and I can guarantee the poster above, she is missed from the places she normally shops in!
Completely agree. Those who say it is no big deal, well bully for them, personally I find it uncomfortable and over the last 9 months have maybe shopped in a store 5 times.

I've done all my clothes shopping on line, use Amazon etc and home delivery for our weekly shop. The 5 times I've been in a store, I've been in and out purchasing what I went for without additional browsing.

There is an independent clothes shop on our high street and I would normally drop in regularly and see what they have in. I've not been in there since last summer.

We're all different. I've had no real problems wearing a mask, or visor, in shops but others don't like them. Nobody is forcing anybody to go in a shop!

Because I don't mind doesn't mean I want them to remain its just I am not bothered. Your indy clothing shop....if you liked it an wanted to support it did you call them see if you could pick up a few things try them on at home etc. Seems to me you could have supported them if you wanted to without a mask.

I am against masks as you can't see people's faces. But I put on as I enter the shop, and take off immediately on exit. So the time I wear it is minimal.

I could have yes, but it's discretionary purchases. My point being I've only purchased what i need rather than the adhoc extra items I would normally do. If people are going for a day out to the shops whilst mask wearing is required then great, but for me it's not going to happen.

Are you getting/have you got vaccinated? As imagine at some future point it maybe a 'no mask if vaccinated' policy.

I was in Barrhead Travel yesterday.

(Walking past and saw an offer in the window that was too good to pass up. It turned out to be a mistake frown but that's another story)

The woman looking after us was behind a screen and wearing a mask. On realising we could hardly make out a word she was saying she took the mask off.

I mean use one or the other but both ffs.

Only anecdotal but got the train into town today for work and people were having to stand again so things are definitely picking up

Mrs Four Seasons has just shown me the new John Lewis logo on their website.
FFS
They might just as well have used the Rainbow Flag with Black Lives Matter printed across the across the top.

It's pride something event this week isn't it?

Most people won't care, and the pink pounders will be happy. Just business?

Remember JL sell a lot of designrr branded fabrics, wall paper and so on. And some gay people, but not all, are very style and fashion focused.

Looks rather unimaginative and generic. Perhaps that is intended.

Yes, it starts with a redesigned logo, and it ends with forced bumming of all customers by a big gay black man(*1). Its PC gone mad and "you couldn't make it up" all rolled into one. /sarcasm

(*1) scissoring by Jewish Lesbians also available upon request.
