No Ebola stories in any of my many news feeds on my phone this morning and no additions to this thread overnight.
Can I come out from under my duvet now?
Total media created hysteria. The two nurses are it, and they probably caught it because of lack of experience or protocols. Can I come out from under my duvet now?
Doubt we will see any more infections in the West.
Spanish nurse who was the first to contract it outside of Africa is now all clear

The press have obviously got bored with Ebola now. There hasn't been any end of the world headlines for a few days.

No news really is good news. Thomas Duncan's preadmission contacts are out of quarantine.

The symptoms sound horrendous , I wonder what the long terms health consequences are for survivors http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-29683616

IMHO, not having any 'news' is bad news as funding will start to dry up as the world focuses elsewhere. Meanwhile in West Africa Ebola will continue its rampage and more and more people become infected. It will only be a matter of time before it starts to spread and organisations like MSF start to struggle (they've already had to close one centre because they weren't able to cope). When that happens it may be more difficult to manage.http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-29683616

Or the good scenario is that it just fizzles out.

I love how he's bought the cheapest, nastiest masks designed for a bit of aerosol paint spraying he could find. Those'll really help him, I'm sure.I think this one is far from finished.
Howether, looking at the speed of response, generosity and readiness of coutries to help, the basic errors, lack of training/prep and time to implement procedures, id say when a truly nasty airborn disease cones along, well be stuffed.
Not impressed at all.

Far from over IMO. If you like chocolate you better start buying now. Ivory Coast and Ghana are almost bound to be affected and they produce over 70% of the worlds cocoa supply. Chocolate is going to get very expensive.
Perhaps if the country that supplies McDonalds with all its cooking oil got a dose we might actually see health improvements over here through a drop in obesity...plasticpig said:

Demand will drop off when it is confirmed that it carries the Ebola virus.TX.
