Personally for what it's worth I think an "opinion in the middle" would be to say that presumably the only knowledge you have of what happened is what you've read in the media whilst the court heard all the available evidence and reached a conclusion from it.

It's pretty odd to think you've better insight of what happened that night.

Is that an attack? confused
And that's all we've got, so sitting here saying you definitely know why it happened and the variables is the same as me saying it. As already said, the only thing I disbuted was that the attacker may not have known who OJ was.

I never said you was me who was attacked, nor you attacking btw.

My last post on the thread, otherwise we'll just be going in circles. The attacker is in prison, rightfully so, end of the matter.

Would the average football hooligan know who Jones is?

I'm pretty politically aware but I wouldn't recognise him if he was sitting at a table next to me.
Is the average football hooligan a nazi?

Guardian said:
McGhee, prosecuting, said Healy possessed “a greeting card, which bore Nazi far-right extremist terror symbols, including those associated with the far-right Combat 18 group, one of whose tenets is ‘kill all queers’”.

Also discovered was a Nazi SS flag bearing a “totenkopf” death’s head skull symbol plus “a number of pins of badges”, including a circular pin badge with the “lead the way” and “whatever it takes” motto of Combat 18 and a badge that said “Chelsea FC no asylum seekers”.
confused

The guy is clearly a scumbag, but that doesn't have much bearing on how recognisable Jones is to football hooligans.

I simply don't think he's well known enough to be on the radar of the vast majority of them.
You keep insisting he's a football hooligan, when he's clearly a far right extremist. To which Owen Jones is very recognisable.

It would appear he's both. But yes, I can see how Jones might be more recognisable to far right extremists.

Owen Jones: Man jailed for attacking journalist

Not bad for an attack that many thought didn't happen.
Probably get less time for dragging a policeman behind you

I despise Jones, he's a whinging, virtue signalling moron, but someone assaulting him for his (fked up) politics and (IMHO normal) sexuality, which apparently the judge was satisfied was the motivation, is not on.

Grudgingly I agree with you. Still wish they’d hit him harder though, they’d probably have got the same sentence.

I wouldn't condone violence against him but I'm sure he'd provoke me within 5 minutes in his company.

Probably, if you're taking one for the team anyway might as well make it worth it.

Surely the Guardian's error, he just supplies the words?

I’m sure it will be spun that way.
