I’d list the ones they also exclude from sale but it’s easier to list the ones they do sell; Mirror, FT & Times.

It’s only the Mail who have got uppity about it screaming censorship, freedom of speech and suppressing legitimate debate. Snowflakes.

It's always projection.

Like the people here complaining that "everyone is too offended" while taking offence at them expressing the things they don't like hehe

Virgin say their decision was commercial as they only sold one DM copy for every four trains. I'm not sure if that included cancelled or delayed trains.
And presumably commuters were only buying it on the off-chance they'd ran out of loo roll onboard.

Why do you two always think people are so offended by things they don’t like?

Has it occurred to you that the unfettered access to social media we all take for granted has resulted in an environment where we can see something we find distasteful or disagreeable, comment accordingly and then move on to something else, giving it no more thought whatsoever in the blink of an eye.

Your posts for example, never so much as enter my head until such time as my eyeballs slide glazed, across them on here. And then it is but the matter of a few finger strokes to comment and move on.

I don’t think people are anything like as offended as you think. They just say when they disagree with something.
They don't just "say", they hound and pressure.
Many instances of companies being pressured, peoples posts being forwarded to their employers, etc
There's a vicious nastiness by one world twitter users to make life as miserable as possible for anyone who doesn't agree with their views.
Just this thread shows that.
Nonsense. I think you’re just being over-sensitive to it because you disagree with it.

Well on LBC this morning Nick Ferrari was going to take a stand and actively try to find a train that isn't Virgin in the future.

Good for him, doing exactly what Virgin are doing anyway...not putting their business with people they don't agree with.

I do agree with that, it was more how that will work in practise rather than sounding good on the radio given that most people who catch a train on a given line have very little choice who operates it.

It smacks to me of him cutting his nose to spite his face, and as a popular movement I can't see it gaining much traction as you point out.

It's a bit of a storm in a teacup really though isn't it, people seem to search out things to complain about and make a huge deal out of innocuous things. A weekend stay at a villa in Raqqa might put some perspective back into what's really important in life.

Sorry but I think I missed something.

What was the complaint about?
That Paperchase had entered into a commercial arrangement with the Daily Mail smile
It took me literally a good five minutes to work our WTF the problem was!

I still can't quite believe it, to be honest.

Is this where Great Britain is right now? Some of its citizens object to a firm's decision to advertise in a national newspaper they feel the need to object - really??? What is even more depressing is the utterly spineless and grovelling 'apology' offered by said advertiser. The complainers do not deserve to live in this country and the company doesn't deserve to be in business.

FFS man!

Well, it would have only been reported if Virgin had done a press release to the media about it - how else would they have known? So - commercial decision or no - they were spinning it in a certain way " Daily Mail intolerant rubbish = we tolerant, understanding, lots-of-hugs train company who have stopped selling it. So, basically, they are cashing in on another companies perceived intolerance and bigotry for their own commercial purposes.

Exactly, isn't that how business works?

I doubt the vast majority of people even know about VT's decision, let alone care. It's just fruitloops on websites getting all into a lather.

I'd say that was true for a lot of things.

You should write to Paperchase to complain about how spineless they are and demand they start advertising with DM again or you will stop buying all their lovely greetings cards.

Great Britain is currently in a state where some people get offended that a train company does not carry a certain newspaper or that a stationery company does not advertise in it.

I’ve just stopped shopping there. Also trying to buy the Mail whenever I can.
As for Virgin, they just didn’t like the very negative coverage they were getting in the Mail. The grandstanding was just a side benefit. I am surprised that a Virgin brand feels able to take a moral stance given....stuff.

The suspicion in some quarters is that this decision was actually based on the Daily Mail's critical reporting on the Virgin rail franchise. They get to signal their virtue, which is lapped up by the usual suspects, while warning off any other papers who would be similarly critical.
