I'm not so sure that because Steven coped without a dad that it should be considered acceptable to knowingly bring a child into the world without a mother or father from the start. I didn't have a toothbrush yesterday, I made it through somehow, but it doesn't mean I'll be looking to go without one today!

Although I reckon it would be a bit of a disappointment. I can easily imagining the kids complaining 'This is crap. Kevin at school only has one dad and he goes to football and boxing and all kinds of good stuff. I have two of you and all I seem to do is go to ballet and pinching lessons. Its not fair'

Interestingly the existing research tends to focus on female same-sex parenting. -Just more of them I suppose. Still valid in the context of the thread though.

From a different publication by the American Psychological Association (2005) drawn from existing research, intended to guide professionals dealing with courts, local services etc;

Interesting to note that some of the studies date back to the late 70's, and yet some people see same sex parenting as a 'new' threat to our moral fabric. As if all this mouth frothing debate is fuelled by people having a frenzied roll-around in the st of this week's tabloid sensationalist media stories. -Oh hang on...

I dont even wnat to think about how horrible my school life would have been had I had 2 father - honestly, it would have been enough to wreck someone before 16.

That said, its hard to argue against 2 decent fathers when the alternative might be a crappier life with 1 mother/father
