Another interesting read from Effie today....

"If Humza Yousaf is not a nationalist, what is he? What motivates him and how did he reach the top? It’s not just a matter of cruelly playing with his name, the past year has shown that he is shockingly talentless as a politician. It’s one disaster after another as if he became leader only after making a pact like Faust and has ended up being cursed.

Like Sturgeon too it looks rather as if Humza Yousaf is running a family business and it means now that voting for the SNP turns out to involve Scotland more than it might like in Gaza, Turkey and the worst parts of Dundee.

Pretendy Scottish nationalists who only ever wanted independence if they thought life would go on just like it does in the UK but, they’d all get gold bars for voting SNP are as disgusted with Humza Yousaf as the rest of us. They are not going to get independence, nor gold bars, nor £10,000 and they don’t much like the SNP being associated with the dregs of society.

Expect support for the SNP to fall still further. It matters very little indeed what you call it. What matters is what it is.

If Humza Yousaf is not a nationalist it’s because he’s something worse. He's just pretending to be one. "

he's simply trying to do anything he can to keep the gravy train going - starting to spout how he doesnt like the party name and moving around the independance issue shows this - he's desperate for votes, desperate for the SNP to hold that power - because once its gone, the entire party will rupture and fragment and all the dodgy dealings and things from the past will surface and its total incompetence and dishonesty will be there for all - the core indy supporters will start to support alba, the rest may indeed return to labour and stick with them as long as their lives remain unaffected and they can pay less tax....

Pretty sure that’s not right unless it’s literally just happened. Marine Traffic showed Alfred running between Ardrossan and Brodick earlier, though it’s now in Ayr for some reason. Caledonian Isles is at Dales in Greenock along with a load of other Calmac boats and Isle of Arran is currently in Ardrossan.

Might explain why it is in Ayr (again).
Just passed by Ayr Harbour and it's not there today. Might be at Troon.

Should be, unless they've dazzled it.

Remember, the SNP would allow a rowing boat to self identify as a Calmac vessel....

Did Foghorn Dreghorn not try something similar a couple of years back? I seem to recall her standing in front of a camera and letting her belly rumble about the Scottish National Party, and the ideological difficulties produced by the connotations of the word 'national' and by extraction members of the party being labelled as 'nationalists'. She then prattled on about the difference between cuddly & inclusive SNP nationalism, and right wing bigoted English nationalism. It's reframing the narrative to make them appear inclusive to hoodwink potential voters...

From that it looks as though its in a berth not visible from the bridge I drove over. I had expected it to be in the same place it was last time.

Ayr is a working port and not very big, so if a large cargo vessel is due they will have shifted things about to make space. It's the right time of year for road salt shipment.

"Scottish Conservative leader Douglas Ross said Ms Sturgeon and Mr Swinney had "huge questions" to answer over their conduct.

"By deleting all their WhatsApp messages, they defied the inquiry's clear instructions from June 2021 that all relevant messages had to be retained," he said.

He said secrecy and evasion had been "the hallmarks" of her government, and added: "This shameful cover-up, which amounts to a digital torching of vital evidence, is the most scandalous example of it."

Scottish Labour's Jackie Baillie said Ms Sturgeon had gone back on undertakings made in 2021 that correspondence would be kept and handed over to future inquiries.

"Nicola Sturgeon has completely broken her promise to the people of Scotland," she said.

Ms Sturgeon is due to give evidence to the inquiry during its evidence sessions in Scotland in the coming weeks. "

Yep the point I was cryptically making earlier. We need to start again as the mobile version only allows three digits for the page input.

I’m browsing on a mobile and see the 1000 displaying with no problems in the page input box confused
