Seems to be a nuclear waste storage facility and decommissioning plant, not a nuclear power station:

Yes. It was a waste incinerator in a plant that handles very low contamination waste such as clothing, gloves, paper towels etc.

Not enough tin foil hat material in the truth.

There's not going to be a leak. It's a waste handling facility and the part where the furnace explosion was handles stuff that's often not even detectably radioactive above background.

The Beeb still spend half the article going on about nuclear power stations though. Not exactly at pains to point out the truth and prevent the spread of rumours.
Perhaps I expect too much from journalists though.

The linked 'fact' page is even worse.
It's enough to make you believe there is an agenda running?
I mean it's so misinformed that I could imagine this correspondant would really fit it well with their global warming campaign...

Many years ago I was chatting to a senior manager at Sizewell A whilst doing some consultancy there and we were discussing the media view of the nuclear industry.

He said that if they have a chef in the canteen involved in an accident - say they cut off a finger - it's never reported as 'Chef loses finger in canteen accident', it's 'Nuclear worker loses finger in accident at nuclear power station'.
