I Jeremy Clarkson on their finance committee? If not, I think he should be appointed, together with Harry Matcalfe of EVO magazine. Since both of them are opinionated and love talking (but hate listening) to their dedicated/paid followers I would think it might liven things up nicely!
Sorry, I'm confused! In what way does your post relate to this particular thread?

From the OP.

"The self-appointed finance committee, angry voices among the protesters have since claimed, had turned into an all-powerful and unaccountable force..."

Laugh of the week! hehe A "Tranquility tent" being out-resourced by the "Technology tent" while the "veteran anarchists" are mysteriously clean and well dressed. Animal farm indeed(with a little Lord of the Flies mixed in). hehe

As for it being the veteran anarchists being in a position of authority my mind boggles at how they must have justified that to themselves given the utterly diametrically opposite aims/ideals.
"We are smashing the system from within, brother."

As quoted to me by an SWP member when I asked why some of them were paid to work for the party, and why they took paying work in for their printing press whne it wasn's prinitng their stupid newspaper.
ahh, the SWP; they invited me to one of their 'branch meetings' once, thinking I was impressionable enough to want to join their party; they chucked me out after 10 mins when I made a suggestion as to what the acronym SWP really means.

happy days...

During Tuesday’s meeting, the camp’s first aid team and “tranquillity” team, which is responsible for welfare and night patrols, had asked the committee for £1,200 to buy equipment including walkie-talkies and trauma kits for treating stab and gunshot wounds.
Wow..... stab and gunshot wounds, really? rofl

Was it the 'work' element they were struggling with or the dawning realisation that they're all massive s?
