That is a good point, their reaction to the immigration officials and their attitude when questioned probably paid as much if not more of a part in their refusal then anything.

The posts on the internet were probably just a small part of the questioning.

The whys and wherefores of US immigration have been done here before. They're not always the cheeriest bunch, but not to go for the sake of 5mins being courteous to an IO is daft. Unless you rule out going to 75% of the planet!
Granted i suspect that these two didn't help themseleves and a brighter attitude and more careful mouth might have seen this as an hour of so delay.

But to say it takes 5 minutes to get through US Immigration is a bit of an underestimation.

Shortest time from joining the queue to staning infront of an IO is usually at least an hour. During that time you will also see 30 gates for US passport Holders used by 100 people and 2,000 trying to get through the 4 gates for non US Passport holders. Added to that you will usually have spent at least 5 hours on the 'plane and are not likely to be in the sharpest frame of mind.

One thing you can rely on almost as much as night following day is that you'd have trouble finding anyone that has a good word to say about them, US Citizens included.

I kind of find the queuing quite easy though, it being a National pastime smile

I've never had an issue with the IOs and have been to the States frequently. As long as you're not expecting a conversation to rival one with your best mate, it's fine. And the less "contentious" you are, the quicker it'll be.

Always wear your finest steating grin and plenty of "Mam"s and or "Sir"s is the best way I have found with closed but friendly answers.

I'm not a fan of the queue bit as whilst I can deal with it and always have my book read to read I find others aren't so good, especially fractious children, which, in turn, does nothing for my health and temper smile

Once you get the other side though you begin to realise why you put yourself through it time and again. Getting quite an urge to go again even when typing up about how horrible it is to get in there hehe

How would they even know whose ttter account they were? Its not like they would be declared on the immigration form! Do many people (other than 'celebrities') use real names on twitter which can then be crossed checked within anyone visiting America?!
We are talking NSA here, communication analysis is all they do.

Side issue I suspect that the "Destroy America" flag is what did it for them. Digging the grave was just so that they had grounds to bring in the 'accomplice'.

I would also suggest it was a routine stop for a few harder questions and gentle word about making yourself out to be a knob on the internet which took at turn of the worse for the kids due to an attitude failure on one or more of their parts.

Also doesn’t harm the impression that they are a "Take no st" organisation and that Mr Badman would be well advised not to even bother trying if we are eavesdropping on and kicking out kids.

They apparently do have a "Chav-tastic" detector, seeing as what the photo depicts.

The bit of of the article that got me was when they said the officials searched their suitcases to look for spades and shovels.

Now I've never dug up a body before, in the US or anywhere else, but if I was going to go body snatching in Los Angeles, I'd probably buy a shovel there.

You don't ned to stay away from the internet to go to the US, you just have to stop posting stupid st and crap sites like ttter.

I went to NYC last September for the Tennis and the immigration guy was fine, by the time we got there, we were through in 5 minutes or less. Yes, we queued for a while, but it didn't put me off, going to Florida in may this year.
Just treat them with respect. Just because our own immigration officials don't give a fk and generally can't even speak English doesn't mean all countrys are the same.

I'd rather out immigration was as strict as the US, but then the pink and fluffy brigade would have a hissy-fit.

To be honest, I can imagine the US did themselves a favour kicking these two chav tts out. I can imagine (as has been alluded to) the attitude of these two greatly influanced the outcome.

If you want to somewhere on holiday, don't let the first thing you do when you get there to be "ps off the locals", common sense non?

This is what I can't understand. If Homeland Security or whoever was to search their archives and isolate all the instances of proven terrorist plots or atrocities by foreign nationals, how many of them involved the terrorists publically posting their plans on the world's most popular social networking site? It seems to me that this behaviour is not a trait commonly associated with terrorists, who tend to try and keep a low profile in terms of advance announcements, and only an idiot would associate the two.

Years of intelligence gathering by the CIA has indicated at Al Qaeda terrorists are now using Twitter to reveal their plans in an uncoded format.

Looking out for key words indeed, if they spend so much time on this type of activity it makes you wonder if they have the resource for a genuine situation.

What if, God forbid, that an illegal immigrant develops a deadly strain of virus which they release causing an outbreak with a huge number of deaths. Homeland security could try and drill it into people that this could be passed from human to animal with wildlife acting as trojans but it will probably be ignored, ultimately leading to the total collapse of society from which recovery will be impossible.

It's done here as well, and on fixed and mobile line conversations.

Try saying certain key words in your next call and listen for the click in the background as the tape recorder come on. smile
