Begging India to keep taking aid!
Discussion
Not sure why we need to give them aid.
Parts of India are 1st world, developed. Large parts are undeveloped and lack basics.
Not sure a country that can afford a major space programme needs that much aid, they just need to divert some of their existing spending away from vanity projects.

The aid could be more of a bribe to sweeten the deal for future contracts, although we don't seem to be winning any of those either.Parts of India are 1st world, developed. Large parts are undeveloped and lack basics.

I believe India has its own aid budget for parts of Africa! It's just moving cash around the world, richer countries subsidising the poorer one, in a vain attempt to reduce poverty. It just gets squandered and makes us a lot poorer.
India gives a lot of Aid to Afghanistan in order to counter Pakistan in the region. It does the same in Burma with one eye on the Chinese. And now it has started in Africa. At least the Indians get something in return for their aid because at the moment it doesn't seem like we do.
Whilst I can't froth at the mouth quite so fervently as some posters, it does seem odd that we're still sending aid to country which can afford both an atomic weapons programme and a space programme (and to buy what little is left of British industry).
The sad truth is that India is a morally bankrupt and corrupt as Russia with the huge bulk of wealth in the hands of a tiny, tiny number of people and huge numbers in dire poverty and never likely to get out of it.
Millions are starving and dying of unnecessarily fatal diseases in India and the rich elite sit back, shag Bollywood stars and close down Jaguar Heritage without doing anything constructive for their countrymen.
Now, that makes me sound horribly like a Socialist and I'm sure most on here will applaud the casual contempt for the lives of others shown by most wealthy Indians and their government, no doubt applauding it as an example our own should follow, but people don't deserve to die in filth just because their government is rotten and corrupt.
It's a difficult matter, with no black and white. To say we should stop the aid if the Indian government no longer want it is rather missing the point of who the aid SHOULD be for...
