Oh no, wait...
It's called a point of view. Please, take time to read it.

Oh, no, wait.

I think he'll turnout like 'Dave':all positive nice guy spin, but ultimately ugly Tory policies. When you look under the funny HIGNFY guy, it's just not that funny, or working.

Let's face it, all politicians are like that. When dealing with a popularity contest it's the most likeable public persona that wins, and that is Boris.

I have read it thanks.

Just see it for the piece it is, a typical Guardian report adhering to their readership. I could post a Boris arse-licking article from the Torygraph but won't bother, you have to take all media at face-value and realise that they are spinning it for the people who buy their papers.

For what it's worth, I have no real problem with Boris as the alternatives in the two main parties are equally as dire if not worse. Would prefer a decent, charismatic and honest PM to any of the above though, which includes Boris, Cameron, Millband and the majority of the cabinet and shadow-cabinet.

Maybe more a view on the state of British politics and those representing it at the moment than anything else.

Exactly, how many politicians have had their name chanted by crowds of people...

He has the advantage in that some people (more than likely those sub 30) will vote for him purely because he is Boris.

Well at least it's not all bad then, unlike the other lot.

it should not be that way though should it?

in 1997 I asked my mrs who she was voting for. she said Blair I asked why.

her answer" he wears nice suits"

wanting boris for PM because he makes you smile is exactly the same thing.

If you are going to have someone lie to you and make the rules, it might as well be someone with a sense of humour.
He would still be in exactly the same position as Cameron is if he were PM today, and no one would be cheering him if he was making PM's decisions and not in his current middle of the road job as Mayor.

Well, it's 'Jeremy Clarkson for PM' for sure. People overlook the shortcomings because he's 'likeable'.

Slight diversion off-topic but wondering what the outcome would be if we offered the PM of this country a salary of say £50 million. This might attract some of the big business brains in the country to apply their attention.

I can see a lot of benefits to a good businessman running the UK as a business but also a lot of pitfalls.

If we assume they have to maintain a standard of good healthcare, welfare for the unemployed, disabled etc, schooling, defence and all the rest.

I would think that a decent business brain might cut out a hell of a lot of the red-tape and middle-management, this would lead to even greater unemployment as those civil servants lost their jobs, particularly in the north where some cities are 60%+ employed by the Govt.

That obviously wouldn't go well and would lead to an even greater north-south divide.

Maybe our trade/exports would pick up though as a businessman PM might cut rates to make it favourable to manufacture again in the UK.

Who knows, certainly not me.

The position of PM will be a poisoned chalice to whoever takes it in the next 15 years imho, they can do no right.

Mmmm... clearly you don't know much about him then...

I think the Boris appeal is a reflection of the contempt people have for politicians.

People find him a comic character and actually vote for him for the comedy value.

Sure he's probably chocolate teapot useful and just as twofaced and self serving as all the others, but at least we could have a laugh at him!

Best comedy program on TV at the moment is the weekly question session he does.

All the dumb bitter and twisted lefties being parrot wooshed in Latin.

It's fab telly.

But he's not stupid enough to run for PM.

Much more power and influence on the back benches if he goes for MP.

Here's his maiden speech in the commons.

Boris is an extremely clever man, you do not win a scholarship to Eton by being anything else.

I'd vote for him, mind you I'd vote for the next door neighbours dog if it kept the authoritarian , dictatorial, enconomy wrecking Labour cretins out.
