They lost my custom a couple of years back. Appalling customer service, release day games turning up a week later, sending out the wrong stuff - in one instance 4 times! I migrated to Shopto and they've been great - so far.

I've used them a lot over the years, got some good bargains on DVDs compared to buying from the likes of HMV. Sad to see them go. I'll be looking for a replacement company now, not sure I'm too keen on the traders on Play.

used them a lot , i guess 6-7 years ago, they always had great prices and i never had problems with (non) recorded deliveries.

As I recall Rakuten rescued Play.

The marketplace model works for us, but I suspect that they've lost too much credibility in the transition.
Really I thought Play were quite successful at the time. I had presumed the original owners just sold out for good money

I'll miss Play, have had some really good deals from there in the past. Wonder how much longer 7dayshop will last frown

As said, haven't used Play for ages. You could sense something was up as the relative sizes of the Play & Rakuten logos swopped places.

Hopefully 7dayshop can survive. They now say "Since our move to UK distribution we are now pleased to confirm that all prices now include delivery and VAT where applicable". I guess they went legit?

What was the other one that was effectively killed, CD-Wow? Based in Hong Kong IIRC and suffered from the grey imports ban?

I've never, ever bought anything from 7dayshop. I barely knew they existed to be honest, but then I guess I am the target market of companies like Play (as they were) and Amazon.

If they are cheapest 90% of the time, you'll just end up going to the same place if you're lazy like me.

Yeah that's right, would have been a good few years ago. They used to be a very cheap source of entertainment media. Looks like they ended up with a big fine - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6700639.s...

CD-WOW were absolutely appalling. They're now called WOW-HD. http://www.wowhd.co.uk/

Implying they were illegal before? You're not one of those people who don't know the difference between tax evasion and tax avoidance, are you? The latter is completely legal and only the former is illegal. If you don't smoke then you are avoiding the tax on cigarettes (legal, obviously), but if you smoke smuggled cigarettes then you are evading the tax (illegal).

7dayshop sell photography equipment, memory cards, film, batteries, gadgets, etc. They don't sell music or films.

I'm well aware of the difference, it was poor choice of word on my part. Can't even blame the beer (yet).
