That is some seriously strangely arousing stuff.
It's like a fairy tale gone hideously wrong or one of those Channel 5 British sex programmes that pop up from time to time.
I know him and I know her it's the Elsa Lanchester (Bride of Frankenstein) lookalikey
Was that the RT Flasher Special. Is that a Haggis in your Sporran Alex or are you just pleased to grope me *allegedly*

and if thats true the police an courts process will prove it but surely you don't want to prevent victims speaking out etc.

Not this time I suspect. Alleged victims aren't seeking damages or publicity, and Salmond seems to have more of an issue with the Scottish government investigating him than actually challenging the allegations.

This is about someone who thinks he is bigger than the law because of his 'legacy'.

I'm all for victims getting justice however there needs to be due process but today, any accusations can be thrown out for the accused to get destroyed in the court of public opinion.

Interesting to see how this develops..

Unless of course they went through a newly created confidential process created because of historic issues (including the accused), and Fat Eck publicised it to create a victim narrative for himself.

Exactly this. We've mentioned it several times in the thread now and the media reporting has been pretty clear. The allegations were intentionally kept confidential for 8 months so they could be investigated properly and without prejudice - according to the new process.

Salmond initially claimed he knew nothing about the allegations but has since admitted that he had three meetings with the First Minister where they were discussed.

During one of the meetings he bizarrely asked if he could 'mediate' and 'offer conciliation' in the process between the Civil Service investigator and the women making the allegations (essentially he wanted access to the women and thought if he said sorry to them it could go away - not exactly the actions of someone who is utterly convinced of their innocence).

you say you are all for justice but called them another bunch of #metoo liars.....its hard to see how you are for justice when without evidence you see them as liars...

He is not the first person in power to be accused of abuse an won't be the last if he is innocent this will come out (Cliff Richard, Ched Evans, Bill Roach etc), if not then he we be guilty (rolf Harris, max clifford, fred the weather man). That is for the courts to decide..

Interesting development - the former permanent secretary (chief civil servant) to the Scottish Government Sir John Elvidge who held the post between 2007 and 2010 when Salmond was First Minister before retiring and being succeeded by Lesley Evans, who led the inquiry into Salmond, has refused in an interview to deny that during his tenure allegations were brought to him about behaviour of Alex Salmond's of a similar nature to the current allegations.

Difference back then of course was that a procedure for investigating such allegations of the kind that Salmond now wants to legally challenge wasn't in place.

It would have been very easy for Elvidge to give a straight no if that were the truth. What reason would he have to fudge an answer unless he knows there were historical allegations that could resurface and make him look at best incompetent or at worst a liar? I'm wondering how lucky Salmond feels over this because I don't think his case is predicated on a certainty of his innocence.

He’s going to need a bigger crowd funding appeal to cover it all if more and more come out.

The police investigation is still open though:

“Mr Salmond's case focused entirely on the fairness of the government's procedures and will have no bearing on a separate police inquiry into the allegations, which is still ongoing.”

It will crumble, too. Prejudicial and non admissible evidence.

Seems like a dangerous precedent to set; get accused of being a sex pest, but if you create a huge noise in the press about it, it will all be dismissed?

Noticed Sturgeon side step the question if Alex had asked her to help with it.
She replied along the lines of "I didn't feel pressured"
That makes me think he did ask her for help.
