The Gadget Show tested their fans last year, and their £200-£300 model was no better than a normal fan costing £15 from a supermarket.
Really! Well I never! You'll be telling me that a Smeg or Fisher and Pakel fridge is no colder than a Beko at a fifth of the price. Heresy!
My mum bought a Smeg, but swapped it for a Beko, as the Smeg never worked properly. (A dishwasher)
The Beko was brilliant, and a fraction of the cost.

as an engineer i am bemused by the halo dyson has managed to achieve - we've had two dyson vacuum cleaners, hard brittle plastics, didn't last long. style over function.

I had a Dyson handheld rechargeable a few years ago. The charging/charged indicator was red/green led. When you are red/green colourblind this is soooooooooooo annoying and avoidable. (Flashing/solid, on/off etc).

I wrote to Dyson & didn't get a reply. I now boycott their products. hehe I'd imagine they've noticed the sales slump.

2 jobs are moving

The CFO and the CTO.

And thousands of companies have done similar.

The sky is not falling down.

The last few companies I worked for the HQ had less than 5 people in it. ( 5000+ staff elsewhere )

That's not what the article says. It says that two executives are relocating.

I cannot envisage how they can move the HQ abroad and maintain UK headcount (minus 2).

The big 4 Accounting firms can - and have spent the last 25+ years helping multinationals do just that. smile

There is a nice glass building in Amsterdam call "World Trade Centre" - it is filled with global companies that have just 1 - 5 members of staff. Last few times I was there - it was deserted.

You need an office - and a couple of bodies in it.

Trolleys Thank You

And a huge amount of tax paid as a British registered company. Great...

Probably to do with Singapore's new trade deal with the EU. More certainty over there and able to sell into the EU easily compared to the car crash we're heading towards.

Unfortunately another Brexit traitor to add to the list.

And yet - Dyson will have the mechanism to invest that money in the UK in the form of R&D jobs etc. creating more employment at 40% tax rate, more product being sold attracting VAT.

Governments tend not to manage money very well.
Dyson is bang on the money re:corporation tax.

It remains to be seen whether this is indeed an transfer of HQ in that manner, or wholesale uplift.

The hair dryers are costing the company a fortune .They seem to just send out new ones when you call and tell them its bust .Now there must be a simple fix? but rather than fix the issue at the factory. they just send out another .which breaks . so another one gets sent out ! etc etc . I am sure they chinese will copy and probably get it right. But when they work its the best .
They're already copying them!

Had this just over a month (in a house that has 2 dysons, early and a later model, the upright carpet noisy ones!). I'd seen my neighbour cleaning his car interior with a cordless dyson hand held. He said it was expensive but so much better than dragging the conventional cleaner out.
I looked at the cordless lightweight hand held stick one he had, the flash git, it was a gold absolute 'starting' at a snip 400 quid! They can be double this. I'd expect it to suck the car up for that!

Similar looking Chinese copy under 85 quid delivered free, LED lights on main front brush etc etc.
Christ, for general lightweight cleaning that's got to be worth a punt, surely?
IT WAS!!
There are 2 of the 'smaller' brush units in pics because one is cracked (we weren't sure where to hang it up so like a fool I used the 3M adhesive pads supplied (instead of screws). The whole lot fell to the floor and survived impact apart from the small brush. No need to worry, the Chinese are brill! I was sent a free replacement from China post free!
I'll bodge the other up as a spare for the car when I get a mo.
Wife loves it for lightweight cleaning. Emptied earlier this eve and put on charge. 3 lights lit, fully charged ready to go again!

Dibea. Probably mandarin for Dyson! hehe

Nowhere near that same amount of money would be available to reinvest. You are aware that Dyson will still have to pay corporation tax, just not to the British government. That's very disappointing news for this country and people like you are celebrating this fact?

What do you have against this country?

The ‘airblade’ hand dryers make me laugh. They were all fancy and super blasting power when they came out. Now they’re all over motorway service stations as a shadow of their former glory - pathetic single sided eco sensitive grotty things that can hardly blow out a candle. They’re grubby and grimy

To be fair he must be pissing himself that he’s moved all the other grandaddy World Dryer blowers off the scene.

We have a V6 animal or something... didn’t pay retail for it as we know someone who works at dyson. But we don’t use it all that much, maybe once a week and the battery life is now about 25 seconds. It’s about a year old, just out of warranty of course.

However, it does hoover better than the big corded upright dyson we have. Probably because the brush is better and pre EU power limit motor on the big one doesn’t make up for it. Also to be fair, I use the big one almost like a shop vac. Clean the filters and De-clogg the brush every so often and it keeps on ticking.

Nothing to see here. Everything is fine.

Farage’s kids with German passports
Lawson off to France
Mogg’s fund to Dublin
Ratcliffe gone to Monaco

Nothing to see here. Move along.

Mitsubishi have a similar one - although that doesn't spray water all over the floor underneath it....
