As a small child I thought Nicholas Parsons was a benevolent millionaire giving out prizes on Sale of the Century.

It wasn't until later that I understood what a game show host was.
hehe

TBF, he was very generous to have shared his talents with us.

Radio 4 tribute to him at 6:30 apparently, so presumably lots of his best clips.

Oh that is a shame.

He was perfect on Just a Minute.

I remember seeing him on a comedy ketch show (of which the name escapes me) where he was a judge on a spoof talent section.

In the same vein as the Ali G interviews, the act was a setup. It was a bloke playing the drums & singing "My old man, said be an Arsenal fan..."

Not sure if Nicholas was in on it, but his face after the third line was a picture.

RIP
3 men in a boat??

RIP. 96 is good going, and a surprise as I thought he was much younger.

Nicholas! Bloody! Parsons!

Nicholas Parsons on the 'phone to his agent: "Are you sure these are my competition winners and not Terry Scott's?!"

As well as being a consummate professional and a gifted all round entertainer, he was also a self taught horologist.

That deserves a clap I think he would have enjoyed that!

This is an enjoyable interview with him in which he covers a lot of topics https://youtu.be/l9zrEpEfUqE

The final whistle. RIP.

Is the the show with Dara O'Brien?

Pretty sure it wasn't.

This was a late-night, off the wall type thing. I've been wracking my brain trying to think what it was.

I think maybe Kevin Eldon or Phil Cornwell might have been in it, but Big Train was too tame.

An excuse, if ever one were needed, to re-watch (for the umpteenth time) the excellent Comic Strip Presents, Mr Jolly Lives Next Door.

Three lost comedy talents in there; Peter Cook, Rik Mayall and Nicholas Parsons.
Never, ever, ever, bloody anything, ever!

Utterly sublime. Should have been an enormous hit that film.

It it weren't such a low quality it would be an even bigger classic. As it is, for me, the grainy, low-fi picture adds to the overall seediness of the film nicely.
