Just two recent documentaries (little mix and gail porter) that highlight how difficult people who have metal health issues are destroyed by the press. There have been umpteen others, some olympians even.

Having two daughters, it'd be my worst nightmare for them to get involved in the "fame" racket.

Exactly this.
sad waste of a young life
But I don't think it's just the media it's the need folks now have to seek approval from everyone.

Yep, it wasn't the media who smacked her sleeping boyfriend over the head with a lamp.
This post nicely highlights the problem, she hadn't even stood trial yet but the press absolutely destroyed her (and have now quickly removed the tens of stories published about her in recent months).
Well, don;t be a perpetrator of domestic abuse and you won't criticised for committing domestic abuse.

I can't help but think if the gender roles were reversed this would be a different conversation.

isn't it the court case and her own actions that might have led to this point?

Sorry I didn’t realise she was guilty. Either way. Sad news, it is someones daughter.

Awful.

I say the same as a poster above: I feel incredibly sorry for her family.

Literally hounded to death by the press before she had been to court.

I do wonder who the hell still reads the tabloid press and their websites, but then I remember that even the PH forums are full of links to Daily Mail articles.
The Jeremy Kyle viewers need to do something to fill the void

If it was a bloke who punched his misses you wouldn't have the white knights coming out to support him. She messed up, she was a celebrity, but she clearly had issues.

Cold getting in early to play the least caring tough guy role.

The downsides of being in the public eye must be awful.

Really very sad news.

No excuse for what she did - but just a very sad day for all her family.

You’re absolutely right.

To criticise the press and media as being in any way responsible is so ironic.

The show (I use the word loosely) she presented does the sort of things the media are now being criticised for, just like all the other reality shows which basically exploit and ritually humiliate the vain and greedy, to paraphrase Python.

Live by the sword......

You know she presented that programme . She wasn’t the Producer or Creator. Doesn’t that fact mean she was also a victim of the culture rather than a villain ?

Has been confirmed as suicide. Maybe the order barring her from contact with her fella was the tipping point, on Valentines day evening?

It’s been speculated it was suicide. A coroner will confirm it.

very sad, but being wearisomely unimaginative and blaming the press hides the fact she was a very troubled soul.

So, she allegedly attacked her boyfriend, ok, so gets the sack.

Why, after the boyfriend refuses to press charges and wants to move on and still be her boyfriend, did the police/courts/cps whichever one, decide to take her to court, as well as obtaining a court order so she couldn’t see her boyfriend, against their wishes?

Seems strange, when you hear of so many domestic abuse cases where the police say they can’t do anything, as the partner does not agree to press charges..... when in this case, they seemed to have been very interested.

It's sad that anyone thinks the only way out is to take their own life.

Obviously a troubled person, but in the public eye and target for the media good or bad.

You feel for her friends and family. 40 is no age at all.

As said above build em up and knock em down. The media have a hell of a lot to answer for.

If you follow any instagram, FB, unfortunately messages like that are 10 a penny. It is very hard to know the ones who are really suffering.
