I already choose to wear a mask to go to the shops. So won’t make any difference to me

I’m off for a tattoo on Friday; getting there, the mask is mandatory on the train, and I‘m told I’ll have all manner of ppe provided for my tattoo.

It’s my choice whether to accept this or not, I can fit in or fk off. If masks become mandatory in shops, the same choice applies, so I’ll fit in and it will make no discernible difference to my day.

For shops, they SHOULD be mandatory, no doubt in my mind....for no other reason that if we as customers are wear them for the 15 or 30 mins we are in the shop, the guys who work in the shops day in day out, feeding us, clothing us etc etc, have a greater chance of getting through the day, week, next 6 months staying well. Without them having to wear FFP3 masks for 10 hour shifts.
It is then strange that I haven't noticed any significant turn over in staff in any of the shops I go to. And most of the people serving me have had no PPE for months now.

Mandatory here and being observed from what I can tell.
Makes sense 100%.
All these Asian punters - especially those who lived through Sars - are not wrong.
Dim Jon-Sin make another big mistake.
My OH family is from Hong Kong and they will happily utilize disposable masks put on correctly and disposed of correctly with good hand hygiene....they wouldn't touch a reusable cloth face covering!

They are mandatory here at the moment and while it makes no difference to my food shopping, I don’t see me going to malls with a friend or anything for a browse, and I’ve been put off finding new running shoes.

In Toronto this isn’t being reviewed until September, but looking south of the border I can understand why.

Only applies to the city also, not generally across the province.

Quite funny that people say masks are useful yet the virus originated in a country where everyone already wears one of the flipping things when out...

Yep it's now mandatory in Scotland so it's clearly more dangerous to be in a shop than they previously told us it was.

Nothing in the science has changed but they've been lying how dangerous it has already been to be in a shop without a mask.

I aint going anywhere near a shop unless I have to.

Not that I was in shops much before.

I wonder if any supermarket workers who have contracted Covid in the last 3 months will have some re-course given they were exposed much like the care home workers were.

if they become mandatory or even their use increases I predict the law of unintended consequences will come into play. We will see a growth in respiratory diseases caused by people using the masks not changing or disinfecting them often enough. A perfect bug trap covering your mouth & nose.
Pretty much what I've observed so far. They're getting taken on & off at the entrances & exits of shops, stored unwrapped in jacket pockets, handled on the damp parts etc. I suspect this is exactly what's going to happen over time. The other issue is that a decent percentage of people don't cover their noses while wearing them and I've seen others taking them off to cough/sneeze onto their hands. Most of the disposable ones I've seen look like they've been used a few times as well. If surface contamination is indeed a significant factor in spreading Covid then one would expect that mask wearers are actually spreading it more actively than those who don't wear a mask but follow the original cough-into-your-elbow guidance that was issued back in February.

I'm in scotland and been waiting for the shops to open to get new trainers, pair of joggers and some new tshirts. (Along with gym equipment but that's too expensive right now)

Masks came into force so I never bothered. If we go shopping we go out for a nice day. Walk around, get lunch, maybe catch a movie. Generally feel comfortable. Well I dont feel comfortable so just wont bother tbh

It wouldn't make a jot of difference to me. I only visit shops when I have to, not because I want to.

I haven't seen any masks for sale in the supermarket, although I've not really been looking for them. I'd think if it was compulsory that they would have masks by the entrance to buy and use straight away.
I'm not over keen on their usage, but if it's mandatory then I'd comply. I do a weekly food shop and that's it. Petrol purchase, once every 2 months. Not a big spender smile

I have been to the shops less than five times in the last three months, a mask won't make me go back any quicker.

Having a mask on will make the experience even less fun than it is now with having to follow arrows on the floor and queuing to get in places.

My petrol garage now has a quick pay window. Saves me going inside. Either that or I could paper airoplain then the £20 notes through the open door

I would more likely go if it were mandatory. Only go to the I need to now and cannot get by without visiting.

I live in Scotland so compulsory here.

I have to say its making me less liable to go into shops.

Yesterday I was in 2 shops on the High Street then in the car for a couple of minutes before another shop then home.

On each of those occasions I came out the shop and pulled the mask down off my face as to be frank I hate the feeling of it. On entering another shop it was pulled back up again.

So I've been handling the mask several times which makes it far less effective...but hey I've obeyed the law and that seems to be all that matters.

The same for me, although Ive been carrying one and put it on only if forced to. I've actually cut out a square of loose weave garden netting that I can fold into a bandana and tie around my face. It complies with the regulations and that's all I'm reluctantly willing to do.
