Maybe they should have some sort of "super spreader" badge. Having been to both Manchester and Surrey recently I might have a chance at getting one.

A bit like politics, this has now shifted into 2 distinct camps. People who aren't fussed and people who are paranoid/hysterical about all this stuff. Bizarrely the latter group still want to go out and do stuff, but try and impose nonsense measures on the former, even if in reality yet are not effective.

I live in Manchester, I’m going to Edinburgh for the weekend next month but this will be following a week in Northumberland, is this allowed as I am not coming direct from home? Will I get a fine if I’m stopped?

I’ve had both my jabs, why did I bother?

hell mend them. the drink drive laws are there to stop people drinking and driving. if you know the levels then why risk it ? why drink and drive ? its quite clear.

I think the point is that lowering the limit is pointless.

No-one is complaining that you can't get absolutely munted and hop in a car. But what's the point in reducing the limit from the equivalent of a point of bitter to a half. It won't have any effect on the people who get pissed and drive anyway. They're going to do it regardless.

No idea and tbh wouldn't bother me in the slightest.

We are having to travel up to Glasgow in August (not really a holiday as such) as we haven't seen the family in over 2 years and we need to help with a few admin bits.

Unless we have another massive lockdown we will be going no matter what.

I’m due to visit family in Manchester next month for a few days, and I’m not bothering listening to her draconian travel bans

If I can go there the week before in my truck for work with no grief I’m sure as hell not cancelling this visit yet again.

It doesn’t bother me, as far as I’m concerned I’m going. The only problem would be the hotel we’re staying at has got my address so they may cancel my rooms. If that’s the case I’ll go home from Northumberland instead of extending the holiday by going to Scotland. It would be the hotel and the local economy’s loss.

I'm not allowed to travel to Manchester or Salford? Oh dear, what a sad loss (peels onion).

Hell mend them? The country pubs that lost a lot of custom because people liked to have a single pint of beer with a meal but are now frightened to do it? Golf clubs where the punters no longer have a pint and a snack after a round before going home?

"Conclusion: The change to drink-drive legislation in Scotland in December 2014 did not have the expected effect of reducing RTAs in the country, and nor did it change alcohol drinking levels in Scotland. This main finding for RTAs was unexpected and the research has shown that a lack of enforcement is the most likely reason for legislation failure. "

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31241879/

"Findings We assessed the weekly rate of RTAs and alcohol consumption between Jan 1, 2013, and Dec 31, 2016, before and after the BAC limit came into effect on Dec 5, 2014. After the reduction in BAC limits for drivers in Scotland, we found no significant change in weekly RTA rates after adjustment for seasonality and underlying temporal trend "

In other words it doesn't look like drivers with low rates of alcohol betwen the old and new levels have many accidents.

Dundee's infection rare is 320-odd per 100,000, Manchester is 272 per 100,000.

When shall we expect the proclamation from Kranky telling us to avoid Dundee in that case??

But it was ok to have the football on Friday: Joined up, logical thinking at its best.
Very clever is Covid 19. All 20,000 Scottish fans that travelled to London on Friday were immune from catching it. It's very selective.

For some reason, English ‘Rona is more dangerous than Dundee ‘Rona.

Sturgeon may regret her actions against Manchester. Burnham is a more vociferous opponent than the opposition in Holyrood.

That is just general guidance that has nothing to do with infection rates wink

Signed, a Dundonian.

The sooner we English are allowed a vote in a referendum to cast Scotland adrift, the better.

This was predicted, the lower level just penalises the moderate driver who's had a pint down the local, just over the limit, the
crazy, uninsured, banned, unlicensed drivers who do cause all the mayhem are driving 4,5,6, times over the limit, always have been.

Aye, but you English all detest each other as well*

North v south, east vs. west, etc. How long before they start hiving bits off?

And it's even worse when you go outside London...

(* as do the Scots...)

It's the worse in London they stab each other because of a different postcode...
