The forces aren't just there for show or to cover up Jaqui Smiths latest faux pas, you do know that, yes?
No, you're out there to facilitate a resource grab of epic proportions whilst our government spins our presence there as bringing democracy to the savages.

Frankly our government had no business sending you and your colleagues to risk your lives in that god forsaken dust bowl.

I, and I suspect the other posters in this thread, have nothing against you or the forces in general, but instead have a problem with the lickspittle government who sent you out there in the first place.
Exactly my point, more eloquently explained.

History would suggest that the whole intervention is doomed to failure anyway.

Why are we supporting this idiot?
Are you in favour of the country being used as a terrorist training camp?
Couldn't care less, to be honest.
That's good to know. It will be of massive consolation next time I'm over there, away from my family, whilst being involved in very real missions against insurgants, taliban and terrorists.
Erm, you signed up for it, fighting people is kind of in the army job description is it not?
Yes, but it's nice to know that people "couldn't care less" and have a total lack of awareness of what is going on out there.

The forces aren't just there for show or to cover up Jaqui Smiths latest faux pas, you do know that, yes?
Problem is mate that when something like this happens, the law repeal, it only proves that very little is actually changing given the huge cost. The whole 'getting bored, tired, couldn't care' aspect will in time lead to group anger and demands of the UK to pull out it's forces.

From what I can gather, the Taliban have not been defeated in any significant way and the problem seems to have moved wholesale to NW pakistan where we don't have a mandate to intervene as the authorities won't allow it, and I'm sure you'll agree after watching the pakistan 'Commandos' at work in the last few days, they're not really up for the job.

I'm ex Army and was at the sharp end in Gulf War I & Bosnia so I do completely understand.
