Wasn't there a chap on here who wanted his house removed because of fears of paedophiles? Not because his kids were pictured but because his front garden had toddlers toys in it.
Please tell me you are making that up. No-one could be quite that breathtakingly moronic.

I despair sometimes.
Nope it happened! The thread was closed pretty quickly.

The thing that makes me chuckle about this street is that they had 3 burglaries in 6 weeks...BEFORE street view! Idiots!

No it's true. It was only the other week when UK street view came out.

Will google go back another time? I wonder how long these morons will 'defend' their street like this for. Hopefully it will prompt the worlds press to turn up and photograph and film their houses.

I just checked I wasn't going crazy. The original thread is HERE if you fancy a laugh.
No laugh there, sadly.

Er, there's a Broughton village near Aylesbury which is an actual village rather than the MK housing estate. The latter is definitely NOT a village (although not exactly a ghetto either).

What utter fools. Don't they realise that their house are actually visible to thousands of potential burglars who walk or drive past every day? Perhaps they should build a thirty foot wall around their little enclave. Then we could brick up the entrance and seal them in.

Fill it with water and call it a tourist attraction, "the lost village of Broughton".

Do they house-to-house red alert buttons in that village?

You'd have to move pretty bloody quickly to get your neighbours organised and in the street when you can already see Google's car heading your way.
Maybe they were all outside cleaning giant genitalia off the outside of their houses?

When this google photographing crap first started, I remember a newspaper article being run in which they interviewed an ex-burglar.

He said what a great thing it would be to be able to case houses online, check out their security, escape routes, what they might have etc. all without having to 'loiter' and draw suspicion to yourself.

great eh? smile
'Newspaper in interview with an ex-burglar about burgling houses and having a favourable quote shocker!'
Also more like a bit of bullst bravado from the 'burglar' being the big man in an interview. A bit like the wannabe ganstáz in Liverpool when that Ross Kemp spoke to them. "yer init mon, gets thems gunz in like 1 minute yeah, do the killin yo" FFS.

It's amazing that people are upset about some static images appearing on the internet but are quite happy/blissfully unaware that they're covered by CCTV from the moment they leave their front door.

All this boils down to is people simply wanting to moan. That's it. British people love to moan and argue the toss. They love confrontation. We moan about Anti-social yobs / chavs but really, great swathes of so called 'respectable' people have this hunger for confrontation inside them. The difference is, they don't express it the way chavs do (picking physical fights with people) so instead do it through other mediums, such as Google Streetview. Google could be driving about doing this and handing out £20 notes to householders and they'd still bh and moan.

I had a customer who wanted a refund of £24. It's not that i didn't want to give it her, it's just that she got that worked up about it it started to get amusing so I held back from sending it to her to see how just much of her time she'd actually waste moaning about it. It got to the point she was phoning 2-3 times a day, every day for a week. At the end of the week I hand delivered the cheque myself. Even on the day I gave it her she continued phoning saying she wanted to complain to the manager, etc. It was then 3 weeks before she banked it!

Indeed I can see the guy in that thread watching Brass Eye as a documentary.

Surely Street View would keep crime down as you can now constantly monitor your house where ever you are.boxedin

Crims are tech savvy these days. They'll find some way of taking a pic of your house and hacking into google and looping the old pic, so you're fooled into thinking nothing is happening.

I live in the same town as these people and my office is more or less a stone's throw from their 'village'

Affluent? Well it's not the ghetto but I certainly would aspire to live there.

It's amusing how he thinks Street View will be a useful tool for the burglar. How exactly? Does Street View tell you the types of locks on your windows and whether you have some nice jewellery in the house? rolleyes
Is it the 'affluent' village that's a stons throw from Milton Keynes?
The village housing estate is on the edge of MK, 2 mins from J14 of the M1. I work on an industrial estate just up the road.

The village housing estate has a Hungry Horse pub within it's boundary. 'Nuff said about affluency I think....
Sounds about right! hehe

I've stopped my young daughter playing in the garden because of this. Apparently a Russian consortium of paedophiles now has a satellite orbiting the UK targeting children. Concerning stuff- Parents beware.
