And "always good to his gran", "never hurt a fly before" and the classic double negative "he's never done nothing wrong".

Does anyone know if this lad was a promising footballer?

Prediction.

Teacher was being wound up. He flipped. Battered kid with test tube stand. Other kids tried to pull him away, got hit also.

A moment of madness brought on by a lifetime of being wound up.

Sad, but every man has his limit.

read some place that it was a weight, like you get in science classes, ratemyteacher site seems to suggest the teacher was well liked, except perhaps by those that want to mess around in class, maybe he just lost it and chucked the weight(s) at the kids messing around, chucked hard it would cause a serious head injury, just like the kid has....

"There were more than 20 students in the classroom at about 11am on Wednesday when it appears a row erupted between the boy and the science teacher during a lesson.

According to parents, Harvey allegedly "snapped", lashing out at Jack with a weight used to teach science."

or

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/teacher...

"boy swore at him in the classroom. He is alleged to have attacked the teenager with a heavy metal weight, beating him over the head in front of a class of more than 20 children. Two of Jack's classmates, a boy and a girl, both 14, were also assaulted, apparently when they went to their friend's aid."

I think the lad probably got what was coming to him although that is a pure guess!

I couldn't be a teacher as I would lose it when they provoke you and think you can't do anything back!
They only try to provoke you if a) They know they will get a reaction and b) If they do not fear any concequences.

yep, promising young footballer was really the class asshat, the teacher had enough, and decided to turn him into the other clichéd phrase "well liked pupil by all, who will be sorely missed"

Well he can't have been a chemistry teacher as he would have made up something to put in the kids drink.

Can't have been biology teacher or he would have made sure he came into contact with a nasty spore on a petri dish.

So he must have been a physics teacher, study of the velocity of heavy objects and conservation of momentum perhaps.

School bully who is a keen footballer and well liked by all (except his victims who are probably jumping for joy right now) pushes teacher over the edge and dishes out some proper punishment.

Simples.

Do you think it's acceptable to assault children?

Why does he deserve privacy? He's been arrested for attempted murder.

I think the fact that he has been charged with attempted murder speaks for itself. I he was being violently attacked by the injured lad then of course he can defend himself.

Sounds to me like he flipped, which some people on this thread seem to be condoning. It seems an odd attitude to me.

he hasnt been charged with anything hes innocent at the moment which is peoples point. if hes almost murdered a child then yes its bad but how do u know the kid didnt pull out a knife etc ( it is nottm after all! ). what i object to is people assuming stuff - his name and photo is everywhere yet it could still be found out he was relatively innocent but his life is over whatever

Yes, not charged, arrested for.

I agree that anonimity for suspects would be desirable for all criminal cases but this isn't the case now.

Many of the posts on this thread are assuming that this lad deserved a beating, you don't seem to have a problem with that. I think the teacher was very lucky the lad didn't die.

ive never said the pupil deserved it, what i have said is i dont know the facts as neither do you and the suspect should not be hung drawn and quartered by the media before we know the facts.
