But it's supposed to be dangerous!
What's the problem - he risked and lost. Good on a counrty that allows people to take risks - People die on the TT, at the Nurbergring, Japanese have their blow fish etc.
They'd never allow anything where the general population could die over here - you have to be a pro (like a boxer) to be allowed to take any risks.
There speaks a man who hasn't walked through the centre of any of our delightful towns and cities on a Friday or Saturday night recently. What's the problem - he risked and lost. I agree, and it does sound like a cracking way to spend a week. What's the problem - he risked and lost. Good on a counrty that allows people to take risks - People die on the TT, at the Nurbergring, Japanese have their blow fish etc.

These days I prefer a nice Songkran!

I really really hope he died in slow excruciating agony just like that bull will do - absolutely made my day.
Way to go bulls, go try and kill every one of those murdering bds, they deserve it.
So the people that do the run are the same people who kill the bulls are they? I must remember that. Ill ask my mate if he got his full moneys-worth. Way to go bulls, go try and kill every one of those murdering bds, they deserve it.

The bulls get an agonizing death in the stadium after. Maybe if people stopped running it would lessen the spectacle.
Maybe the spectacle would be less but don't think it would stamp out the event.Remember, the massive modern popularity of the run only came about really due to the popularity of the internet and backpackers guides (rather more than Hemingway's book I'd imagine), it's how it really got well known. This is a Spanish festival that has become popular with 'outsiders' due to it's infamous nature, but that doesn't mean that the Spanish would stop if the visiting runners didn't turn up. They'd carry on as ever.
As has been said previously in this thread, Pamplona is a single example, it happens elsewhere in Spain without all the fanfare and associated YouTube infamy.
An English example of the Internet/Backpacker Guide infamy effect is Cheese Rolling at Coopers Hill. Absolutely littered with Aussies, Kiwis and Saffas. The London hostels even run coach trips to it.

I did the Pamplona Bull run last year fir a friends stag do, the buzz from doing the run is second to nothing else I've ever done.
Such a great festival I'd recomend it to anyone, the bull run is quite a small part only taking 10 minutes each day for two weeks, there's so much else going on.
The opening days a great laugh with 1000's of people in the main squares and the firework displays each night put the London new year attempts to shame.
Whilst I accept anyone who does the run has to accept the risks i do feel for the guy who got killed.

I love the way the PC crowd feel fine to condemm this. But just imagine it was a Asian/Middle Eastern/African tradition, held in their home country. Calls to ban it would be seen as "paternalism" or some such.
As with another thread, no sympathy for the dead guy, you make your choices etc etc etc
