Police described her as "dangerous" and warned people not to approach her.
so she's dangerous and not to be approached
It was just reported on the news that she's 5'5" and 25 stone. Dangerous if she sat on you, as for why you might want to approach her in the first place...

She was allowed to go shopping becaquse the worlds is now managed by women and they believe shopping is the answer to all problems. Hence the last gummints policy was to go shopping with the uk credit card for 12 solid years.

Except it's got nothing at all to do with Human Rights legislation.

It's therefore common practice and surely reasonable to take her on shopping trips to assimilate her back into the 'real world' after a long time in prison..
Why? F**k them. Don't want to find life hard when you get out of prison after a long stretch? Don't commit crimes which get you jailed for years...

I mean, Squaddies have trouble getting back into Civvy life, I don't see the Army allowing them to go shopping etc.
Well squaddies wouldn't have such long breaks between normal human interaction, but I agree should get more support. However I don't think this precludes helping prisoners being eased back when they are due to be release. Not to do so would be more damaging to us.

Two years she'd been in FFS.

Squaddies are in a bloody warzone being shot at, prisoners are in prison interacting with plenty of other prisoners, taking part in jail activities, playing on the PS3, etc.

This is absolutely nothing new. Myra Hindley was allowed out for a breath of fresh air in Hampstead Heath—and she murdered five children.
You may or may not be surprised that she was also allowed out on shopping trips around Chatham and Rochester. wink

This is the first I've heard about this. Where is this written?

I knew somebody would ask this question.

Unfortunately mate your going to have to trust me on this one. IIRC it was on a weekly basis and very hush hush. I won't/can't divulge on a public forum how I know this but let's just say I know a lot of people. wink

Made me spit I can tell you when I was told.

I was under the impression that the only way someone can be detained indefinitely is when they are held under a mental health ruling.

The South London and Maudsley NHS Trust was formed in April 1999 as a result of the merger of Bethlem and Maudsley NHS Trust, Lewisham and Guys’ Mental Health NHS Trust and the mental health services of Lambeth Healthcare NHS Trust.
This would suggest the hospital she was at deals with mental health problems.

So, I would guess that the "shopping trip" was possibly part of her treatment, rather than her being let out of a high security prison to pop down to Primark.

(IMHO it was probably still a lapse of judgement to take her shopping)

All ears, I may well be wrong but why are such people not locked up safe in the big house never destined to see the real world again?

What is the real story behind this?

Ah right. So chances are it didn't happen at all. Else by now, someone would almost certainly have sold the story.
