Mo.
When I was signing following redundancy the lady told me that there was a bent doctor in Slough who would diagnose you with TB for £50.Mo.
The reason being, if you've got TB you're not allowed in any government buildings.
So you don't even have to bother signing every two weeks.
The system is rubbish. Those who really need assistance get turned down and those who are smart and good actors get the claim through successfully.
Unqualified assessors asking people to assess themselves - essentially with little or no regard to any mental health issues.
Typical of Labour's "tick box" processes of which they were so fond.

Surely it's 2million people who can't find work that they want or are prepared to do, as opposed to 2million people who can't find any work at all?
It's 2 million people that could pick veg for £8 an hour but wont, yet are equally happy to moan about eastern europeans doing it.Bone idle on-the-breast underclass mother fkers.
Render 'em down.
The company I work for employs approx. 600 people processing and packing veg. In my two years there, I have seen under a dozen British people start doing this work.
Not one has lasted more than a week, yet the on-site agency office has a minimum of 20 Polish people coming in DAILY looking for work.....

I would say yes but despite being made redundant, I do not qualify for JSA (despite obviously seeking employment) just how AM I supposed to fund travel to interviews
From your savings and/or redundancy payment. You do have savings, right?OH wasnt allowed as a) she was coming off being a student b) very little NI Credits c) I was working and therefore it was deemed acceptable for me to pay d) She is foreign but in the EU.

Compare this with the excellent IMO German schemes where the aim is to retain social cohesion and prevent people and families failing and ending up on the streets open to abuse and all the rest.
Mo.

The system is one great big fking disincentive hamster wheel, the proles who work it don't give a flying F about anyones outcome.

it's labour that created this mess by putting people on long term sick to massage the unemployment figures - we all know labour gave money away on benefits like it was going out of fashion.

iirc it was a trend which started in the early eighties to reduce the high unemployment count.the tories will sort it out

Shame there isn't any work at the mo, still I assume JSA is less than £90 PW?
But there was plenty of work in the last 13 years? And there is plenty of work out there - not necessarily work that is desirable, but it's work.Mojocvh said:

No working time directive - it's a seasonal business, and the shift pattern is 4 on, 4 off, 12 hour nominal shifts.
In the summer, the hours are long, in the winter, much less so.
As an agency worker, we pay the agency around £8, but the worker is on minimum wage.
From your profile, we're potentially not that far from you, and there is the possibility depending on experience/outlook for contracted work, on a fixed salary.
PM me with a contact number and I'll give you a call to fill you in with more details.
Cheers,
Sam

28 working years all paid up tax/NI bro. Am I bitter, yep. In the position now having self funded for months prior to claiming (or not as it turns out) Tell me, how do you feed 2 Adults, 2 growing kids, keep them safe and with a roof over their heads for £96 per week?
Tell me about it... saved hard and didt piss money against a wall and I owned my own home and have savings...I got told to use them up first before I was allowed to claim anything, absolute shower of ste
If chavs are allowed to claim benefits even when they own assets like 50 inch tellies and the like, I don't see why I shouldn't be able to claim when I own a small collection of old coins...

OK can we get our own back?
How does an average, hard-working, middle-class person (family) hide their savings so that should the worst happen, they will be under the savings threshold and be able to claim all the same beneifts as the chavscum?
Err, didn't I just do that? Convert your cash assets to gold sovereigns and keep them under your bed. Not traceable, can be converted back into real cash very quickly with no capital gains tax liability, and a good investment anyway. How does an average, hard-working, middle-class person (family) hide their savings so that should the worst happen, they will be under the savings threshold and be able to claim all the same beneifts as the chavscum?
You'll have no savings in the bank that they would be able to trace, and any time you needed a few quid you could sell a sovereign or two either on line or at a high street jeweller.
