Oh fk off! The public sector bhing is getting pretty boring now.

WHY should all public sector workers double as council workers?! We have road clearance people to clear roads (and a big thank you to them for working hard to do so)...and if you like paying wages so much, employ more! Or is whining about people who work as teachers, soldiers, nurses, police etc just another way for you to feel superior to someone?! Compensating much? Also, if you're so high and fking mighty about paying for things, fking pay to train more people to clear the fking roads!

If we're taking your stance on all different sector workers taking the strain for their sectors fk ups, should all private sector workers pay more taxes to help bail the banks out?! The banks are public sector and they monged it so maybe you should all take some of their pain! Yeah, only works one fking way, DOESN'T IT?!

I'm a soldier, and yeah, I've been clearing fking roads and car parks, because all you fking (private sector employee) civvies (since we're lumping people in groups today) who are employed to clear the snow around here can't do their fking jobs properly. And last year, we were out til fking god knows what time pulling you all out of the fking snow you weren't prepared for. Where's the thanks for that?!

What do you do for a job? I'm guessing either directly of indirectly I pay your wages too...hows about I criticise your fking work and tell you to do more?!

Fist yourself. And stop talking st.
That's right, because the only public sector workers are teachers, police, nurses, etc, isn't it? Which one are you?
Ahem, if I may; you emboldened the 'etc' at the end of my list. I'm quite sure that suggests the list isn't exhaustive.

God damn editing while I'm typing! It's really not cricket! wink

We sent you from the cold into some nice warm desert countries like Iraq and Afghanistan to warm up again. Now that you've warmed up, get back to clearing snow.
Fair one! rofl

Read the fking post squaddie. I have been out clearing snow from the roads.

You may also have failed to see (how did you get accepted into the army with such bad fking eyesight?) that my wife works in the public sector and has been walking to work.

Part of my job is to help validate the purity of oxygen delivered to hospitals; which thanks to a bit of foresight on my part I can do from home, via a VPN link. This means that I don't have to go out and block the roads.

Please tell me, what fking training people need to clear roads?

PS I'd quite happily pay more in tax than I already do, but not so that inefficient councils can waste it on 'twinning' projects; I'd sooner it went on important things. Such as providing the right kit for our armed forces.

Although I wouldn't want to provide more horses for the cavalry, as they can use the fking high one that you're about to vacate.

So anyone who pays tax that goes to the hospital that pays for your oxygen and your wages owns you then.

Whenever you can't get to work or are unable to work from home I hope you'll be available to do some work on the streets. A bit of cleaning and picking up litter perhaps?

I remember one particularly bullst oriented RSM making us move the snow to pick up litter and then put the snow back again. Hated being at battalion posting for that reason. Nothing to do except put up with bks. Much better at an operational unit as the BS went out the window as there was proper soldiering to be done.

No, no, you won't be needing those. Mr Gove has promised that he will be restoring discipline to all our schools. If a child is misbehaving or threatening you, you'll be able to... put them in detention! On the same day! The little terrors will be quaking in their boots, I tell you. So fear not. Come join us!

Yeah, a teacher was ranting to me the other night on precisely that issue.

"So you put a soldier in the classroom, and they shout at the kids, and the kids tell them to f'ck off. Then what?"

If I don't turn up for work I don't get paid.

Again, another blind poster. Read my OP. I have been out clearing show the last two days.

Two days on which I happened to be on holiday. It didn't stop me doing my bit to help the local community.

When i was in primary school, most of the teachers were >50 and female.

Are you really proposing we have old ladies out clearing the roads for the rest of us to get to and from work?
for years we've heard females demanding for equality
for years we've had the grey sector demanding equality

so yeah why not send old women out to move snow, it's what they're fighting for

but yes, dolies (and i am one temporarily) should be out doing it

I run my own business and the funding is strictly one way - I pay tax and therefore pay the wages of every public sector worker out there, likewise every dole scrounger.

Hop to it and clear my drive chaps!

I'd say for starters a Cat C driving license would be useful, followed by some 'how to use a shovel' training, assurance the person undertaking the work is fit enough to complete the task, how to spread grit properly. And probably a few other modules. Additionally to that, will you (since you're paying) be providing all the extra wet/cold weather clothing and boots?

If teachers should be clearing snow, what about the pupils? I'm paying for the education so if they aren't learning get them cleaning up snow.

And then there are pensioners, it's only -10c. Lets get them out working form there winter fuel allowance!
I'm heading into a local school this weekend, as they've asked for people to come in and help clear the paths, etc to make it safe for pupils to attend. They have also requested staff and pupils (sixth form) to attend and assist if they can safely do so.

To be honest the pensioners on my road are out there doing their bit.

I have plenty of empathy for those who make the effort, however those who just sit at home and get paid for watching JK need to get off their arses and get shovelling.

Why is cat C driving licence needed to shovel show from our side streets? IMHO a shovel is pretty easy to use, the infirm can make tea, do I need a degree or a HND in grit spreading? Are you seriously telling me you don't think people have wellies, gloves and a winter coat? Blimey what has the public sector been doing with all the wages we've paid them? Would you like us to provide a method statement and risk assesment for them before they open the door and the nasty cold wind blows in? rolleyes

Yes Public Sector employees could be usefully deployed clearing snow, but most of them that are employed to carry out manual work are private contractors or part of the voluntary sector it seems. I reckon its a job for Cameroonies Big Society.
