Bragg lives in a nice house, his village like him, anonymous letter writer is a coward.
Exactly - he's well liked in the village. I don't agree with his political views. But just because he's a socialist doesn't mean he's not allowed to be rich.

Erm....yes it does.

Unless he's a champagne socialist of course....

He's a marxist. And he wants to deny anyone the spoils of their efforts.

All except himself of course.

On a similar note, can we not get a George Monbiot type scheme going too?? Every time someone posted an article of his, I can't help but read it- and frankly it makes me want to smash things.

I don't think anyone objects to wealth per se. But when Mr Maxist has preached about the values of 'the working man' and the evils of the rich for so long, I cannot see how his personal actions are not relevant.

A Marxist? Are you sure?

He has promoted the Labour Party for many years and voted LibDem at the last election.
These days he comes across as more of a Social Democrat than Revolutionary Socialist.

Surely he has offered George Monbiot the use of all his spare rooms for homeless people?

I'm sure that between them, they could halve the number of homeless, if they follow George's suggestion....Lead by example.

Whilst I'm not a huge fan of his political views, I'd far rather his honesty than that spouted by most politicians. If nothing else he's got a chunk of the common man talking about politics when otherwise they wouldn't.

I was into him very early and loved his stuff, the first couple of albums had some wonderful songs and though his politics were obvious it wasn't overwhelming.
I was at a gig of his during the miners strike and me and my mate were the only ones in the room not to put money in the 'Friends of Scargill' collection bucket when it came round. If looks could kill.

However, I do think he's become a complete tosser, no interest at all these days.

If you have access to napster or spotify try 'Like Soldiers Do' or 'Saturday Boy' from his early albums, he really was good back then.

Problem is, mate, that whilst his views were doubtless honestly held when an angry young man, he's a great example of how much less angry those young men become when they get fking rich.

DING DING DING. This.

All those crusty students smashing st up the other month, in 15-20 years time they'll have professional jobs, probably get bonuses and they'll live in nice houses. Probably complaining about how much tax they have to pay.

Feel sorry for him? Why? I hate people who are "socialists" but who are rich.
