Julian Assange loses extradition appeal at Supreme Court
Discussion
There's a good blog on how exactly Assange could get out of the country (or how he couldn't, mostly) here: http://www.headoflegal.com/2012/06/26/julian-assan...
Looks like he's been given asylum.

Still seems a little unclear.
If he has I'll be surprised. Pleased but surprised.

That doesn't give him the right to traverse UK soil to get to the airport though http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/world/ecuador-gran...

that's the salient point. Is it feasible for him to be given a diplomatic passport I wonder, and would that provide him immunity?
Otherwise they'd have to smuggle him out of the embassy, into an airport and onto a private jet.

Asil Nadir is in town - could ask him for some tips. Is it feasible for him to be given a diplomatic passport I wonder, and would that provide him immunity?

Zoom in a bit and look what is across the road from the embassy.

How'd ya figure that one? Forgotten how the Libyan "diplomats" walked out of UK after shooting WPC Yvonne Fletcher from the embassy window?Ozzie Osmond said:

Sure that but was a simple murder of a police officer, hardly important when it is taken against rich people possibly having those skeletons released from the closets eh!?!?Mermaid said:
The British Government is alleged to have threatened the Equadorian Embassy that if any effort is made for Assange to leave, they will arrest him, and could enter the Embassy to arrest him.

The Foreign Office said it could revoke the embassy's diplomatic status.
In a statement issued as Mr Patino spoke, it said the UK had a "legal obligation" to extradite Mr Assange.
Meanwhile, a number of police officers are outside the embassy, in Knightsbridge.
At a news conference in Quito on Wednesday night, Mr Patino said: "Today we received from the United Kingdom an express threat, in writing, that they might storm our Embassy in London if we don't hand over Julian Assange.
"Ecuador rejects in the most emphatic terms the explicit threat of the British official communication."
A Foreign Office spokesman said the UK remained "determined" to fulfil its obligation to extradite Mr Assange.
Anyone STILL think this has nothing to do with trying to extradite him to the US???
Have we ever heard of a case of a foreign embassy having its status revoked and police storming the building to extradite someone on shaky accusations????
Assange hasn't got anything to worry about - if the FCO revoke the diplomatic status of the Ecuadorian Embassy and send the Met in to arrest him, on the basis of recent experience, it will take them four attempts at searching the building before they can hope of finding him, by which time he'll have been long gone, away on his toes in disguise.
The only possible downside for young Julian is if he makes the classic blunder of disguising himself as a South American electrician, and in a case of mistaken identity ends up being slotted by some Red-Bull-fuelled Robo-Rozzer as he's rushing for a tube train.
