American foreign policy has been disastrous for much of the world...

since the Monroe Doctrine (1823). Frequently, US foreign policy has also been the cause of their own woes.

Meanwhile Trumps approval rating climbs to 42%, highest rating in 11 months. (CNN)

Just 4% behind Obama at this point in his first term.

Quite remarkable.

It’s not really a surprise.

Trump at the helm sucking up to Russia, ratings fall,

Trump takes a back seat while state department and congress kick out Russian spies. Ratings rise.

Trump can improve his ratings even more by doing nothing and letting the grown ups run the country.

I wonder how many people that criticise Trump for being too friendly with Putin would go to war against Russia? How many of you know how to dig a trench?
I can dig a trench better than Trump. wink

Two questions for you: Is it a straight choice between war and being Putin's bh? And how successful do you feel appeasement has been in the past?
A question for Chamberlain & Churchill. It has been answered.

Follow the money trail.

Nadar has been given full immunity from prosecution from Mueller, the only witness.

George Nader helped set up the Seychelles meeting during the transition period between Erik Prince and the Russians. Nader’s close ties to the United Arab Emirates are certainly useful when it comes to Jared Kushner’s dealings with UAE.

Nader sent millions of dollars on behalf of UAE to Elliott Broidy, who is a fundraiser for Donald Trump and a deputy chairman of the Republican National Committee which was to influence the United States to take a hardline stance against UAE’s rival Qatar, cash bribes from foreign governments in exchange for control over U.S. foreign policy.

I think Trump is right to want a less interventionist foreign policy as it has been the root of many of their problems over the last few decades.

Putin initially wanted a good relationship with the west, keen to meet Blair and Bush after taking control. Unfortunately he soon felt let down by bush and Blair over their support for independence Georgia, since then he’s looked inwards.

A good relationship with Russia is very important indeed but if they’re poisoning people in Salisbury and engaging in “full spectrum warfare” with the west then Trump has to be willing to speak out against Putin.

Trump has some vanity and personal weaknesses though and I can’t help but feel that Putin has something on Trump, which is influencing his willingness to criticise Putin.

At the moment though trump is able to benefit in ratings improvements due to Russian diplomat expulsion whilst privately blaming the state department when he speaks to Putin,

Trump has repeatedly called Rob Porter and discussed the possibility of bringing him back to the White House. He's also repeatly done this with others that will be witnesses against him, Corey Lewandowski, Paul Manafort, Michael Flynn, Roger Stone etc etc.
Witness tampering?

or is this to get back into Hope Hicks good books, after all she handled every email of his for years, knows many of his secrets, offered to destroy emails for him...

Trench warfare is all the rage these days, what with it being 1918 and all.

Two questions for you: Is it a straight choice between war and being Putin's bh? And how successful do you feel appeasement has been in the past?
Do you really want DJT to insult Putin on twitter the same way he did with KJU? Think twice about that.

Will never happen from trump- there's a pee pee tape and evidence of money laundering biggrin But now there's some hawks in the whitehouse dictating aggressive policy...

Even Boris has been threatened by the russians
"We have a surprise for all who have the impudence to compare, to draw parallels between Russia and the Third Reich,"

Was this the surprise coming on Thursday? I’m sure I heard some Russian minister making a threat about the UK getting a surprise in a briefing on Thursday. Maybe it’s just Boris getting it?

A decent President would respond in a Presidential and dignified way to Putin. You can criticise without being rude. No one is asking for anybody to hurl insults. Of course, Trump is so idiotic and possesses such a dreadfully poor intellect and woeful vocabulary, he is only capable of responding as a toddler would.

As many have pointed out, Trump's silence on his direct media re Russia is as telling as his many missives on any other subject in the meantime.

I would expect a President to make an official statement in person but all we've seen is a statement read by Sanders which attributes the decision to him but offers no direct quotes from him so he does remain at distance from it.

That his administration has taken the action is, I think, a positive step in one direction but it does escalate the tension with Russia which is a definite negative.

Still, he was busy on the back nine at the weekend whistle

What's the alternative? They've very publicly poisoned an ex-spy, his daughter and a policeman with a nerve agent on British soil. They've trolled at best, influenced at worst the US presidential election. Plus Syria, Crimea, Ukraine...

So we can either stand up to them, or just let them take the piss.

He’s busy because a pornstar (he paid off) has been on the telly telling the country about his affair, how disgusting he is and how she shagged him so she could get on the apprentice.

I expect that would create some trouble at home for most of us. Even though The First Lady is in it for the money, it must be upsetting for her having to watch and share that with 20 odd million viewers.
