Would it not be more accurate to say that the way the UK implemented the EU regulations on freedom of movement was a disaster? We have the right to remove EU citizens who aren't in employment, yet don't use them.
Good luck, you're the second to point this out today. Much easier to blame the EU though.I remember asking the question before the referendum "would you consider staying in the EU if we forced the EU to allow us to kick out EU nationals who were unemployed after 6 months?"
"Yes, yes, that would be good!" cried some.
When I pointed out we already could, the religion took over and "that's not good enough, you tricked me etc. etc."
It is funny when you think May has been in the best position to do something about immigration for years and has done relatively little (on purpose) in relation to what she could have done - and yet she is the hard-brexit-immigration-control-priority#1 hero.......or she was.....

Are you making things up again slasher?......or at the very least overegging things?..... define your "some." So that's a no to finding evidence to back up your claims then?........I'm not a sheep and made my own mind up many years ago (hence a member of the referendum party) so it didn't matter what claims were made true or otherwise but I will happily accept that others may well have fallen for it - subject to you supplying proof that it happened obviously....if not then I will just have to continue thinking you are an EU bullshining shill.
Given the evidence provided here today of the true position of FOM, not some petty proof of who said what to whom on an internet forum and that you're insisting the old mind is made up unshakeably, then who's the real sheep here?Honestly, the mischief some people get up to in order to fill those long, blank days of retirement.

It happened, likely over a year ago now, it would take ages to find. It is not difficult - just seen that JOB had a go today - caught a real whopper!

No I do not want a protectionist work environment. no matter that you tell me I do!! Read my post, it explicitly points out that I want a level playing field, very different to protectionist. Explain how you feel that the odds are skewed in my favour. What you do say is nonsense in that it is not addressing my main point, that is an indigenous worker has to support a very high cost of living. The immigrant worker. comes over and is prepared to live a much lower living standard, only because that standard is far higher than his/her native. Country offers.
Would I work for the money on offer to these immigrants, no I used to work for myself
Having run my own successful business and then sold it on to retire I do not need you or anybody else to preach to me about bettering myself You make far too many assumptions.
Do I have issues regarding call centre workers being replaced by Indian or South African workers you ask. Very obviously a loaded question and one to which I choose not to answer. why next thing is you will be shouting out that I am a racist.
Calm down. Would I work for the money on offer to these immigrants, no I used to work for myself

I don't think that you are racist at all, you thinking that I'll 'shout' that is another of your baseless prejudices. I do think that you are confused, but no, I don't think that you are racist at all.
I did explain about 'playing field'.
You are accusing me of making assumptions, and yet you are typing how immigrants are prepared to live a much lower living standards. I'm one of those immigrants and that generalisation is as stupid as they come.
We do have a minimum wage, if people don't want to be paid minimum wage, improve yourself (not you personally) and get a better paid job.
Those jobs are going to be replaced by tech so fast anyway, that people will have to either adapt / do something else, or they'll starve.
Those. living as I said are prevelant, you are simply not aware of it. Your assumption, another one, that all is rosy is as stupid as they come. Of course those incomers that are at professional levels may well be able to afford a decent home and all the rest of it, why not. But I have focused on those at the lower end of the scales, tell me how it is possible for any person to be on a minimum wage to be able to afford a home and all the rest of it?
ecause you happen to be an immigrant does not confer upon you the right to assume that all immigrants are/have done well. How on earth the car washers in every supermarket car park afford decent accomadation I cannot fathom, perhaps you can throw some light on it?
This nonsense about how one should improve thier lot is so simplistic it beggars belief. Not everybody is able to do what they would like in life for a multitude of reasons. You seem happy to write sections of he population off with such bland pronouncements. It's tough for many people to maintain a job never mind set off on a course of self improvement. Those that are able I salute and wish well.

b) I retired early but have plenty to keep me occupied thanks. Can't wait to get my free buspass though.

As the DUP 'deal' is looking a bit rocky, will May try to form a coalition with the LDs, now that Farron has quit?
I can't see the LDs doing it TBH, after they got shafted last time. What goes around comes around & all that..
It wouldn't surprise me if feelers had been put out. I can't see the LDs doing it TBH, after they got shafted last time. What goes around comes around & all that..
An opportunity to exorsise that ghost.

I remember it. Probably about 9 months ago. You were at your mischievous best. It didn't tell me anything new.
I've already asked some family labour voters what they thought of the proposed Land Value Tax.
Tumbleweed moment.

I don't know - given how much of their vote share they have lost - forming a coalition is really the best way for them to ensure they have some power.I can't see the LDs doing it TBH, after they got shafted last time. What goes around comes around & all that..
IMO - they are cutting their nose off to spite their face.

I am perfectly calm thank you. I am sure many immigrants of long standing have managed to work thier way into a better life, that is after all why they come to the UK.

Whatever wage you are getting you should live within your means. If the best that you can muster is minimum wage, then live minimum wage life, whatever that might be. If you think that minimum wage is too low, lobby your MP. If people can't do what they want, they should do what they can and adjust their lives accordingly. If people are going to sit above their mum's garage and whine how 'furiners' are taking their jobs, you are right, I have no sympathy whatsoever. For genuinely disabled, I think we should do more, lot more.

I would genuinely admire Mrs May if she just took that breath and went for it
