I reckon she would have lost if they’d waited until next Monday to vote - Sir Graham Brady is owed a favour there..

She's still just as fked as she was yesterday before this all kicked off.
Well except she can’t be kicked out for now. Still pretty st though.
So the main difference is that not only is she fked, the others have fked themselves too. Brilliant move.

So nearly half her party doesn’t have confidence. Not exactly good news really.
It's not "nearly half".

By your own measure, you could say that nearly three-quarters of her party do have confidence in her!!

Ironically, 200 is one more than when she was elected in the first place - 199, and there were 13 more Tory MPs for that one as well.

Just announced the party does have confidence in the prime minister
Yes 200
No 117
That buggers up any vote on her deal. So now we have a zombie in power.

So where does that leave us?

Not sure if Corbyn actually wants to be landed with the poison chalice at this point - he'd be insane to call a vote of confidence in the government at this point.

May (probably) cannot get her deal through parliament.

The EU doesn't have the capacity to budge.

No, we're not going to get A50 revoked (or at least I can't see any mechanism to get us there).

Second Ref doesn't help anyone at this point (and let's face it, Blair is actually worse than May).

I don't *think* may wants to get to March 29th with no deal, but it would be a blessed release, "I did my best, we have prepared, this is Brexit" etc. etc.

Maybe we now see some back room deal where someone else agrees to take over with a new proposal to break the log jam?

Certainly right now, this is as damp a squib as the A50 ruling on Monday. Nothing has really changed, May's deal is not acceptable to the majority of parliament. But at least we know our resident troll will support anything if he thinks it'll get a rise.

1/3rd of your MP's don't want you.......... Hardly a vote of confidence really though......how is she going to get anything through parliament?
She won by a convincing majority. Significantly more than 52%.

You must respect the WILL OF THE PEOPLE and our SOVEREIGN DEMOCRACY and back her without question. Get over it.

She does not have the luxury of having one of her MP's voting against her now she has 117 its madness to go on with this charade.
That sounds like the sort of thing remainers would say, it was the wrong sort of vote...

Even if it was a quarter, still st. The whole party should be behind the leader at this time.

that's right on the margins of an acceptable result for her

doesn't really help anyone at all
It is a huge advantage for her, she can't be challenged for a year. One vote or a million votes is meaningless to her.

They triggered the vote at an utterly pointless time.

more than half seems a little low for this type of thing.

That's been trotted out by the party, but you have to recognise that a choice between two people or a choice between one person and *someone* else is a very different question.

Now look at the Parliamentary arithmetic, out of 650 MPs, 200 support the PM. She won't resign, but this situation is not recoverable at all.

How long before opposition lays down motion of no confidence in government? Can they hold back until 21 jan?

Honestly? 30th of March would be my guess. Corbyn isn't touching Brexit with a bargepole when he can stroll into No 10 without having to lift a finger if he just shows a little patience.

Ooops.

And these rebels are the people who would have us believe that their skills would extract a fabulous deal from the EU in nothing flat?

They can’t even organise a fking coup, the useless incompetent s.
As he says, look at the result of the vote from those not on the payroll
Does. Not. Matter.

The result of the vote is that she stays. The ERG knew the rules. They knew how many votes they’d need to get her out. They canvassed hard to get their 48 letters, and they know they l’d need a lot more than 48 votes to make this fly.

They fked it. They weren’t even close. And they’ve handed her another year, bulletproof from attack.

Bunch of incompetent idiots. Came at the king, and missed.

How anyone can give any credence to the idea that any of them could, or could have, extracted a deal of any value from the EU is laughable.

Yup. You’d have thought they would have learnt.
