How is she returning to Europe? 747 / 777?
The US has quite a few evangelical churches with private jets- couldn't they be persuaded that she's doing their god's work?

Yes I can. Because that is what it is. A bunch of hypocrites pushing their agenda via a vulnerable child. This whole thing amounts to child abuse and the only reason it is allowed is because it's a 'climate emergency'.

The poor girl looked terrible on that boat. The people behind her are a bunch of sick, hypocritical aholes who have nothing better to do than tell us how we should live our lives.

No way in hell would I let anyone treat my daughter like this. Her parents need a stern word with themselves.
You don't think she's delighted with all the attention? The parents seem the type. The only surprise is that Lucas didn't list her in the inclusive emergency government. Give it time though.
I'm not sure she is enjoying this. The puppeteers certainly are. I do get the impression she is being forced into this.

Given that her mother used the image of an 11-year old Greta on the cover of her book about....Greta and her 'Climate Change induced' autism, I don't think her parents have too many qualms about throwing her in front of a world audience.

I suspect her millionaire parents are too busy counting the $$$ to give a big enough damn.

Oh please Lucas, do grow up, I don't think he actually wants her dead, no more than when someone says "I'd kill for a cup of tea right now".

The original tweet is here, some of the responses, many along the lines of "couldn't she just have phoned her message in", are hilarious.

I’m not disputing that, she may be deluded, wrong, abused etc, my argument is solely that you can hardly criticise her for hypocrisy for getting her message in a printed publication. Better that, in terms of positive environmental impact, than an interview with some old tosspiece from a band in the 80’s or whatever they would have printed instead

Again you miss the point and appear to have not read my comments. I don't agree with her, her agenda, or the agenda of those who control her
I can't see any hypocrisy in using mass print to disseminate an environmental message though on purely a pragmatic level as the benefit likely greatly outstrips the impact

GQ aren't using her image to promote any sort of environmental message. They just want to sell more copies and are doing the usual bandwagon jumping in order to do so. No surprise in that, popular stories of the moment are proven to sell. GQ are using her for their own profit. Same as it ever was.

On a related point. the anti fracking mob on the road outside Blackpool will be back in force now that Cuadrilla have restarted fracking there.
Strong rumours were that Cuadrilla had given up

Be prepared for disruption and factor in another 30 minutes at least per journey once these wkers start in force.
They were not a pleasant bunch and wreaked havoc with shedloads of plod stood by doing little more than watching on

She's now on the front of a magazine. A magazine probably made using lots of printing machines, paper based products and inks. Then the magazines are transported using fossil fuels to various locations.

Such a good climate activist. hehe

To be fair, I don't know what is worse. The agenda of the people pushing her or the agendas of all the luvvies her take her st on board.
Firstly a disclaimer, I despise XR and everything they stand for, their secret agenda, and their methods. However on a purely theoretical level...

I fundamentally disagree with what you’re saying

She’s not a massive jet setting globe trotting hypocrite and she’s visibly making sacrifices to embody her values and show that individuals can make changes

I’m not saying I agree with her values or message but it is stupid to say that an environmental activist who gets their message into print is a hypocrite for using printed media to propagate the message, how should she do it then?

The same for criticism of Emma Thompson. These people bring great publicity to the cause. It would not be practical for someone like that to help a cause like that and take a multiweek boat trip so it’s a jet and massive publicity or no publicity. She should have flown coach admittedly. amongst the sniggering of those who refuse to acknowledge a problem or refuse to act, there was also a great raising of the profile of the cause

It’s hardly in the league of the XR person who said air travel should only be used for emergencies and then posted pics of them skiing and in NZ on insta. There needs to be a proportionality between the harm caused by the activity that does good before just laughing and nit picking at people who, for whatever reason are trying to make a difference in the world.
Thompson has no cause at all to fly across the Atlantic and back. She could well have made a short film of her speech wherever she was and sent it over to the UK or wherever ER were pontificating for them to broadcast.

That’s her normal method of communication, why not in this case?

Hypocrisy of the highest level.

Why do it though (suggestive post I mean)?

It serves no purpose, contributes nowt to any sensible discussion & serves to whip up unpleasantness.

I have no time for either Lucas or Thunderberg, but I wouldn't post something like that.

It just perpetuates the antagonism, rather than pointing out the flaws in their activities.

He said he did it because he enjoys baiting ludicrous twitter outrage mobs.
And to draw attention to how the child is being used and abused for political motives.

At least he has the conviction to leave his tweets up, rather than sheepishly delete them and put out a pretend apology when the outrage mob turn up.

I'm not talking about GQ! They are a money making organisation.
She is getting benefit out of the arrangement too you know. Her appearing on the cover helps build her profile as a credible person and gets her message to a wider audience.

Is this what it takes to become a credible person nowadays?

Credible to the credulous perhaps.

Well that obviously floats his yacht.

Seems a bit of a lame excuse to me.

It's a good idea, especially if the trees are planted for that purpose. We'd have lots of new forests.

In other news, Thunberg has been named by GQ (UK) as their "Game Changer of The Year".
(No, I don't know what that means either.)

I know what it means.

She must be worse than me. I bought 15 PS3 games the other day and pretty much loaded and unloaded each of them in about 4 days, not because I completed them but because I wasn't impressed and uninstalled them. I can't imagine how many games she had to play in order to win that title.

The Banks tweet is crass.

As to Lucas, "she's a child FFS" works both ways.
