I hope people come en masse to challnege these illiberal 'rulings' So glad we live in a fully functioing democracy.
Also, optimistically (naively) that people might boycott the products of the corporate rulers of our fair nation and its 'People's Games". I bought a can of diet coke at the services yesterday and then realised what I'd done when I spotted the logos on the can. Never again. Won't be buying from them again. Also intend getting some new training shoes this summer - no guesses for which brand I won't consider now.
Off to start a thread about not buying milk from Tescburys..!

free market aint it? dont like the product on offer keep your beak out and dont buy it.
the simple fact is, or the one put forward by LOCOG is that if sponsors didnt get exclusivity they wouldnt pay and therefore there would be no games.
damn, when did i start supporting the free market!

Only problem is it's complete bull-puckie.Even the sponsors who don't (directly) profit from their involvement are contributing a tiny fraction of what us tax-payers are getting stiffed for and we don't get the slightest sniff of the profits.

None is visible in the Olympic Park...Of course, but the premise is that LOCOG get a significant amount of money from IP - which reduces the amount taxpayers pay and is essential to even hosting the games.
I wouldn't be too fussed about being forced to buy certain products (or limited rather) - to some extent you get it at any stadium event (i.e over priced food).
The security would annoy me more. I bet peopel will be kettled like sheep and getting in and out of venues will take forever.

I've never been to a stadium or event where you can't wear kit from rivals to the sponsors, not since the rally in '36.I wouldn't be too fussed about being forced to buy certain products (or limited rather) - to some extent you get it at any stadium event (i.e over priced food).

And what proof is there that they will prevent people walking in with Pepsi tops? Its nonsense. As the article posted above this post shows, they can take action against ambush marketing - i.e lots of people in Pepsi clothing who are doing it on purpose.

exclusivity for: signage and logos and stuff. At the stadium. on their goods, etc. no problem.the simple fact is, or the one put forward by LOCOG is that if sponsors didnt get exclusivity they wouldnt pay and therefore there would be no games.

I know they probably do.http://www.newhamrecorder.co.uk/newham-life/organi...

What I meant was - why would they care about annoying small businesses - its no loss to them to protect their brand - so they dont care about annoying small businesses.
Maybe small busiensses should take the message that the Olympics dont want them using their brand and to stop using it!
Also do the IOC think that someone walking past will go ok, that small corner cafe says olympic, so it must be official?
The thing is this same bull will be enforced no matter which country the games is being hosted in as it is part of the games.
The whole thing is a fking scam.
It's not our Olympics, is there's, and if we want to be part of it
we've got to pay through the fking nose for it.
I'm glad I don't want to be part of it, but feel for the people who were
desperate for tickets and were let down.
I hope the whole event falls into a fking big hole in the ground.
