I've been out twice already this lunch (in Bank). There isn't much going on at all to be honest - most of the people down there are just spectators. On Sky News they are making out it's the end of the world ffs.

yes
The crowds look huge from the ground-based TV cameras; as soon as they swing to their helicopter cameras though you can see that it's not much busier than if the Police had cordoned off the same area during a normal City lunchtime.

Protesters must be gutted that so few have turned up; just shows how much support there is for left-wing ideology thesedays.

Just popped down to have a look - they've got them all penned in, and apparently the plan is to keep them where they are until they get fed up and go home.

Call that a protest???

How can they go home if they're penned in?

LIke I said in the other thread:

Whats the betting its diversionary (from the Police and RBS): Allow them to vent anger on an 'insignificant' branch which has more than likely been gutted in preparation - so that the HQ is left alone.

The police are quite happily watching the windows being broken etc which suggests they know exactly whats going on.
That branch was boarded up with "To Let" signs all over it...
Jesus. No wonder they're crusties.

It still had PCs and monitors in for them to throw out of the window. Letting the protesters help with recycling them?

Sure, but it's just some random branch, not the HQ
Yep - think it was in Islington or somewhere. Probably just a disgruntled customer who lost his card to an overzealous ATM hehe
It's not Islington, it's the City. It's the opposite side of the road to the Bank of England. They've put the windows in, and are chucking kit out and generally trashing the place.

Until a few months ago it was a derelict office all borded up.

Protestors feel they've trashed RBS branch... then RBS get the last laugh when they get home. rofl

Sorry old boy - I'm no longer in the City.

(I put everything on black in mid-Jan, and put all my redundancy pay & savings into bank shares. I almost tripled my money, sold up, and am now sitting pretty in the Windies.

OK, not exactly the Windies, but it does mean that I can enjoy a slightly less pacy life contracting in the 'burbs).

Hopefully RBS just stuck their name on the wall of a derelict office and caught the protestors hook, line and sinker.

These hippy, commie tts had better not delay/prevent me getting to Wembley tonight for the England game. mad

Just had a call from someone at RBS whom I trust. They've been told to vacate by 15:30.

I'm shocked as government employees they would be in after 14:00.
