You appear not to have noticed the internet contains considerably more people than those you mention walking down the road, many of whom are crooks who can now view far away cities from the comfort of their own bogs.
So?

For the nth time...

They now have the ability to sit down, scroll through nice streets hundreds of miles away and spot vulnerable houses.

Cue the roffles, but I don't know why...

Do you think they wouldn't already know nice areas.

Do you think someone willing to travel hundreds of miles to do over a house is gonna relly on seeing a window open on google street view?

Hilarious. So now people are going to cross the country or fly in from the US to nick a set of alloys are they?

I said vulnerable houses, not alloys.

It opens up the market to them, so to speak. Wouldn't you feel safer from detection by raiding a road miles from home? I would.

What are the chances some lowlife two hundred miles away is going to chance upon your house? Just because you know your house exists doesn't automatically mean everyone else does. It's pretty far fetched to think that someone in another city elsewhere in the country is just going to be going through street after street of another city and stumble upon your house, see a nice car parked outside and then decide they're going to steal it.

Of course not.

Using my house as an example, you can walk onto my neighbour's front lawn, hop onto my garage roof and access bedroom windows on the front and side of the house.

So far, only local scrotes, walking up my cul-de-sac, half a mile from the main road, can see that. Now the whole bloody world can.

If you lot think the scrotes aren't getting their heads into this, you're naive.

for someone so paranoid they're about to get raided due to their house being on StreetView you're certainly not helping matters by telling would be thieves how to go about doing it hehe

Yes, of course, you're right. They wouldn't have thought about it if I hadn't posted it. Silly me.

We fit intruder alarms to minimise the risk. I assume you would call that paranoia too..?

There are houses like that everywhere. 10 minutes driving around a random area in a van provides the same information. It also lets you know if the houseowner has bought a big dog since the google people have been around.

Burgalry is not the crime of the forward thinking master criminal. It's either committed by desperate smackheads or pikeys who happen to be in the area. Neither of these groups is going to be using street view.

Organised gangs who strip entire houses are a different category. Unless you happen to have a sign in your garden detailing when you'll be on holiday you don't need to worry about these people using streetview either.

No. Like I said there are easy to burgle houses everywhere, on pretty much every street. Why fk around on street view confirming what they already know?

Yes, but why make it easier...?

Anyway, there are other reasons...

I don't want the whole world to know about the sheep in my bedroom...

Oh..

is this thread still going excellent!! to conclude;

i don't like what this stands for, it has nothing to do with anything specific that may or may not happen, Orwellian society is one step closer

no amount of rolling eye, smilies or FFSs is going to change that

so there

But it's not surveillance. It's a snapshot of one instant in time. If streetview was live streaming video I could see your point and I would also be worried.
