UKB: as you are from the United States, you will no doubt appreciate the wit and wisdom of one of America's greatest stand-up entertainers George Carlin (RIP) on the hot (ho ho) topic of Anthropomorphic Global Warming.
No one has said it better (IMHO).

(PS) George - if you're still lurking, I recommend you take a look as well.
Although through humour, he does make a very good point! No one has said it better (IMHO).

a consensus of 98% of the world climate scientists.
Is possibly more appropriate
Zimmerman Identifies only 75 Climatologists from 20,000 world-wide
Kendall Zimmerman [2008] sought to vindicate Oreskes by surveying 10,257 American Earth scientists using a database built from Keane and Martinez [2007]. However, only 30.7 per cent of scientists replied. Zimmerman conceded only five per cent of respondents were climate scientists. In it’s conclusion the study identified a mere 75 climatologists who agreed human emissions were a ‘significant’ contribution to 20th century global warming out of the 10,000 plus earth scientists first approached. In fact, in none of Zimmerman’s questions was the issue of ‘catastrophic’ warming even raised.
Add that to the previous posts I made on this consensus lark where the number of respondents in the 97% or 98% myth was also less than 100.
The former 'consensus' nonsense / spin exposure was from here among other places:

I thought for a moment there TB you were referring to Robert Zimmerman and his popular 1960s paper that concluded that the Answer is Blowing in the Wind, wind being rather topical at the moment on a number of fronts (as it were - more likely backs really.)

Leftie megalomaniacs like to have full control of their environment when waxing lyrical to their disciples on how great and right on they pretend to be – proxies are the order of the day to do Gaia’s work…..Mods, could you please delete this post, as I am sure that it must fail to abide by the PH community standards. It might be interesting if somebody posted something over there that was reasonably balanced, but just managed to disagree with His Georgeness, just to see if it was deleted by their mods.
Then made the same post over here, just to let us all know the level of censorship that is being applied.
I've not got too much to do tomorrow
ETA. Bugger. I've just looked and found they've closed the comments. Oh well, there'll always be a next time
