Just this afternoon's news about the AFD.

http://www.spiegel.de/politik/deutschland/stefan-k...

Every day you read something like this about some tt (in this case, a Bundestag MP) from the AFD. For a party who claims they don't have nazi tendencies, I find this interesting.

And Der Spiegel is about the most credible source possible, before anyone starts.

And yet they continue to increase their popularity.

The more acceptable parties best start adressing the concerns of the general population who are moving to support the AFD or it will be too late for them.

Seems it’s kicking off again following a gang rape of a young girl by a group of Syrians in Frieberg

And just to be clear, I would not vote for the AFD.

Unemployment rates in the productive EU nations of Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic hit 3.4% for the first two and 2.5% for the latter. That's effectively zero, for all three nations. There is huge pressure there.

Half of German firms are struggling with recruitment: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-world-work-germ...

Of course, as others here agree, mass immigration is the bluntest of instruments with which to address such issues.
I think a period of time where wages rise is well deserved for Western Europe. We need gradual re balancing after a decade of very low wage growth,
If only there were parts of the EU with massive unemployment eh?

I wonder what it could be that is pushing people to "forgive" some aspects of these people but still vote for them ???

Clearly the issue is education, once the word gets out that AFD are a bit dodgy their supporters will stop being racists and embrace the only acceptable opinion yes

I don’t get the character assassination of The Frau. She has rarely if ever been a Dictator type figure, always much more the ultimate compromise, consensus , pragmatic politician.
She has done her level best to guide Germany and Europe on a stable united path and a massive genuine belief in better together.

Did she treat Greece with much sympathy or kid gloves? No, but then from the domestic German perspective they couldn’t see why they were getting an absolute kicking. Or why their Mutti was being paraded around the European dress in Nazi uniform. They were afterall footing the damn bill !

The immigrant gamble however, was her domestic misjudgement. She thought she could carry the country with her on her brand of “trust Mutti” alone and she got it wrong. She failed to take AfD seriously and that stunt combined with the high profile attacks hurt her. Someone mentioned hubris and that is a more accurate context.

That potentially leaves the door open for Macron to take centre stage in Europe. Hmmm...
I know I trust Merkel a damn sight more than I do Macron!!!

Or that no other party has a meaningful stand against immigration.

Macron is dead man walking. The French cant stand the pompous clown. He will be less popular than their previous clown come election time.

This time there may be serious consequences for France from that.

She deeply believes in something. Corbyn is the same, you may not agree with them but they stand for something.

What did they really expect voting for a man who didn’t have enough party members to make a government.

Unlike the Brits when the French want change out come the guillotines and the smell of sheep burning wafts over into Dover.

We on the other hand just grumble into our morning coffee, shrug our shoulders and accept our lot.
