I came through Calais in a coach today.
The UK Border staff in Calais found 3 illegals on our coach!
Two were in the engine bay, and one was on the front axle.
The driver seems to be very shook up. To be fair, he did search the bus before we took the last part of the journey. I'm not sure why he is so shaken. I have a suspicion that he might be in danger of losing his job.
I must say, the jungle looks horrific. It is the sort of scene that you would expect after an earthquake in a third world country.
£2k per illegal, isn't it?The UK Border staff in Calais found 3 illegals on our coach!

I suspect not many fines are being handed out though.

Were the French stupid enough to end the agreement, France would be flooded with migrants far more than it is at present, and they would all end up in Northern France, just like they do now but in multiples of the 10,000 that there currently is.
Would you really expect the UK to accept thousand and thousands of migrants, because the French say so, never going to happen, it's just bluster/rhetoric by French Politicians prior to an election.

Until the idiots at the top of the EU (who are STILL banging on that open borders wont change) realise it cannot stay like this, this problem will carry or, until another country decides theyve had enough and then maybe with two big countries leaving the idiots might wake up.
I fear the only way that will happen will be an attrocity on a scale above what weve seen in France, will be the only way that happens, unless the French make changes on a scale we saw with UKip in their elections.

The, rather sad, answer to your question is that I have spent the last few days touring first world war battlefields.
Nothing sad about that. The two world wars are something none of us should ever be allowed to forget.I am hoping, on my way to or from the 'Ring, to call in and see the very field where my paternal grandfather was hit twice (well three times, if you count the bullet that shredded the book in his backpack) by German machine gun fire in WW1, aged 20. Half his regiment were wiped out in a day, most of the injuries and fatalities in the first hour of the advance. That he survived was a minor miracle, but without infection or amputation (he 'adopted' one of the nurses in the field hospital who persuaded the surgeon) is incredibly good fortune.
The bit I've highlighted is precisely why I went.

I'm sure this is an over-simplistic view but if these people are non-EU nationals they're either refugees or economic migrants and surely that ought to be determined at the point at which they reach the EU? If they're economic migrants they just get refused entry, if they're genuine refugees they claim asylum in the first safe country they reach. Now I accept that approach would place considerable pressure on countries like Greece and Italy and it would be up to the EU to help resource any border control facilities; for genuine refugees I think it would also be up to all EU countries to take a fair share of those people as leaving the countries of entry to deal with them all would seem a tad unfair. However, just allowing thousands of economic migrants and refugees to trek across Europe to Calais - which is what we seem to have at the moment - surely can't be right?
Judging by the "hgvcop" account on Twitter they regularly immobilise Eastern European hauliers with £15-25k in unpaid fines to UK border force, I'd say they dish out plenty of fines. It's just that uk operators are the only ones daft enough to pay them...Both of the above are relevant, EU allow them through, and the EU fine UK Companies when the illegals are found, and they are forced to pay whilst their EU counterparts give a shrug and ignore!!! No support for UK Transport Companies from CMD or May.

That's precisely why Le Touquet exists and why the arrangement isn't going to change.

Lily Allen says she would ONE HUNDRED PER CENT! take in an unaccompanied child after Calais camp visit.
Above captured for posterity.
Is this is the same silly ****** that has had drink and drugs problems and says she wouldn't prevent her kids taking drugs when they grow up?
Her kids are what, 2 and a 1 year old?
Await the welcoming of the Calais child into her 'typical' modern family home.
Well, 'everyone's at it'... ie celebs jumping on the Calais showbiz bandwagon.
