Fantastic news.

Was the ransom paid?
Yes, apparently unnamed individuals stumped up $1m.

Delighted for them.
I fear for the nightmare they will now face though, explaining to the DVLA why they didn't sorn their car.

Every once in a while someone on here makes me genuinely laugh. That was a top observation pilthy!

I am so pleased this couple have been released though.

Those poor poor people, away from the relative safety of the pirates and straight into the the unforgiving, machete weilding, non English speaking tyrants that is the DVLA.

The poor buggers don't stand a chance

It's strange, this has been all over Sky news for the last couple of hours, it hasn't been mentioned on the BBC.
Very strange indeed, can't believe this hasn't been mentioned yet, unless I've missed something.

Very happy to see they have ben released safely.

But, on the flip side....if a £1million ransom was the reason for release then it's just another case of "Victory for the Pirates".

I'm starting to like the idea of becoming a pirate. Seems to pay well, and as long as you don't attack military ships, looks like Governments are all too willing to pay up rather than use force.

I doubt our government paid anything, more some money (and $1m is only a guess) was raised by family, friends and/or a wealthy benefactor if at all.

It's a long commute from Bucks to the sea every morning though.

Perhaps Rupert Murdock paid the ransom...?

Was just on Channel 4 news, their freedom is down to a Leytonstone cab driver. Also said they have been banned from reporting on the case due to an injunction taken out by their family. How odd.

Really? How mysterious. WTF is going on ?

I guess whilst it is great news for the couple, the fundamental problem is the "pirates" now know they can attack in those waters...

Hopefully there's a tracker in the case of money so military exercises can be carried out when they get back to Pirate-town...

This is how the Royal Navy could get some cred back!

Send the Ark Royal to the coast of Somalia and use the Sea Harriers to hunt and destroy the pirates.

Pirates should be sunk, no questions asked!
