I still find it remarkable that someone of Trump's character and petulance will have access to the nuclear launch codes.
Nah, just jazz up the button a bit. Red? OK, keeps Putin happy but I think he will go for a golden diamond encrusted button. More in keeping with his image.jmorgan said:

Hey its a great button a really great button. Isn't it wonderful how people frighten themselves over things they have no control over. 8 years with GW Bush was far more concerning.Jockman said:

Carter was, however, a good president. Unlike our current warmongering globalist shill. Had more people paid attention to Obama's actions rather than his words, I suspect his popularity would potentially be the lowest in history.
I liked Jimmy Carter. He was the first President I knew about as a kid, watching a black and white TV in the suburbs of Edinburgh.Obama, well I do not dislike him and I do think it has been good for the USA to get over the hurdle of having a black POTUS, but in reality, his colour appears almost to have been used as a flag of convenience for some of the most questionable US foreign policy. He's put the West's relations (okay, not without some help from Putin) back a decade or so, and has increased the overseas military interventions. The assassination of Bin Laden was audacious and I am amazed the US got away with it so lightly.
Obama is also, as is the trend with modern, career politicians, completely blind to the real economy and business. The lack of business investment in the US is directly down to his failure to nurture it.

This bit I don't understand. Unemployment is at something like a 10-year low, more people are IN work than they have been for lots of years, and yet somehow Obama has been "blind" to the economy?Countdown said:

The 44th President is going going gone, excellent news.
If you had a choice between Obama and Trump running your country, would you opt for Trump? In which case yes for devilment if only to enjoy, in real time and in action replays, the ensuing meltdown and vapourisation at the BBC and Guardian
Obama is essentially a snake oil salesman in the Bliar mould. There's not much by way of alternatives to the oil route for left-illiberal politicians as telling the truth about their intentions would result in rejection. This was part, but not all, of the problems Billary faced.
If Obama was PM we'd get a black Blair without the rictus grin but with tedious personal mediocrity including look-left-look-right as distinguishing features. Clearly he's benefited from the nature of the office but it's only temporary and about to disappear.
The Nobel Prize for doing nothing with a dark skin tone has cemented his place in history as one of the people who got a sham prize for being there at the right time.
Left-illiberalism is past its sell-by date, no thanks for more of the same so maybe try a Republican alternative, but even then no guarantees.

The US economy has been moribund. There have been policies - like in the UK - to massage long term unemployment and there are also many reports sceptical of where some of the claimants have 'disappeared' to within the numbers.
How have long term unemployment figures been massaged? I'm not trying to be argumentative, just to try and understand what's really happening. Bear in mind that stock markets have bene generally rising through his tenure and are at an all-time high (although that might be Trumponomics). With regards to claimants "disappearing" AFAICS that's also not true. The actual number IN employment is at an all-time high?

Which he freely admits.Imagine how Trump would have reacted to getting one for no reason!
After all it wouldn't change the price of apple pie.
